RD, Interviews yet?

I'm freaking out because my friend received interview requests via phone/e-mail from Duke and Cornell, and I haven't received any news from either school!!

Does an interview request indicate anything about the status of my application?

doubt it - i got contacted from cornell -- just give it a little. dont be impatient ahha

Don't worry....I just received the names of applicants to contact. If you don't get contacted though...don't fret.

I wasnt contacted, I have OK stats, and I got in ED to CoE

No. At Cornell being contacted by an alumni does not indicate anything other than the fact that your application has been processed. Not being contacted by an alumni only indicates that a) there are no alums who do contacts in your area or b) the alums in your area are backlogged by so many applicants they can't possibly contact everybody.

Remember, not having a contact can't hurt you.

I was just contacted by email yesterday but my friend who is also applying and had his application in before mine didn't get one yet. So really, I wouldn't worry.

zz very short interview - 20-25 min. very conversational.. he did most of the talking. - don't stress it at all.. really ez

Addendum: Turning down an offer to meet with an alum might raise an eyebrow, so make certain you put your best foot forward.

Also note that alums get very loose training and experiences will differ widely. Some will be really into your academic interests, others will just want to talk about Cornell and see how energetic you are.

Thanks, I'm definitely a lot more relieved and relaxed about this now... It's so easy to get obsessed, paranoid and all sorts of crazy these days while I wait! Haha

The only things it reflects is how motivated your local alumnus/a is to interview his or her list of candidates.
