RD Letters Are Out

Justin,

We will be coming on Friday, April 4th. Since we will be coming from Northern Virginia, we probably won't be there until 9 or 9:30. (we will have to leave at the crack of dawn to make the 4 hour trip) Unfortunately, DS has a tennis match on Thursday, so we will be unable to leave Thursday night. I would love to meet with you so that DS could talk to you about Lafayette. Would you be available any other times on the 4th to meet - how about lunch? Thank you very much!

Thanks for that Justin! Can't wait!

NoVAMom,

Hey...when you get here, you get here. Honestly, I'm not looking forward to dragging myself out of bed for an 8:15am tour on both Scholar days!

I am planning on attending both days' lunches, so maybe we'll see each other then.

Justin,
I have been reading your posts over the last 2 months. Immensely helpful. Well, Decision date is round the corner. Does the College email as well?

mkword,

According to Lafayette's website:

<<< International decisions are generally finalized in late February, so students may receive their decision letters by April 1. Students who are accepted will also receive notice of their acceptance via email. >>>

Is it a good sign???

I was sent a couple of emails from the adcom recently in which there were articles about drama and community service which were the subjects of my interest. I was just curious since they were sent at such late moment.. Does that mean anything?? I guess not, anyways!!!

kapil90,

I'd take that as a "good sign," wouldn't you? Admissions officers have little time to waste at this point in the admissions cycle, so any unsolicited contacts are sure to be initiated for a reason.

Justin

I get something about Community Service too but I don't really think it's any indication, since they could have placed us in the mailing list automatically. I doubt that the mails are sent by people, more like computers did the job. I'm worrying sick.

I think that something "personal" can be seen as a good sign. I also got the email from Community Service but it's really "general". So worrying too.
@ anh1vodoi: I think we are in the same class . Lol.

kapil90, anh1vodoi, and beago:

It turns out those emails were sent to a large number of applicants. It should not be taken as any indication of one's upcoming admissions decision.

so letters are being sent out ON the 1st?

rewrets,

You will receive notification by mail NO LATER THAN April 1st. Therefore, decisions are mailed out PRIOR TO April 1st to ensure they arrive in mailboxes BY April 1st.

Justin

The decisions are sent to the International student only by snail mail or they do notify us by email as well??

my friend was accepted last year and he was notified by e-mail first

kapil90,

Yes, tanveer149 is correct. International students receive email notification of their decision on or before April 1st. Admissions packets are typically received shortly thereafter by snail mail.

^Thanks a lot for that mate. Been waiting ... Intl. applicant ..

any clue when notification should arrive for deferred students? if you recall i was deferred earlier from applying ED actually kind of late during the rolling period...

i doubt ill get in because typically 1 in 10 does and i feel like im in their range but who knows...i did get a neighbor i babysit for who is an alumni to recommend me, wrote a letter expressing how it was my first choice and all, and had my advanced writing teacher write a recommendation saying what i brilliant english student i was because that what i want to major in. at the time i applied ED they only had my quarter 1 grades, which werent bad but not as good...i brought those up A LOT by the end of the semester.

i was really thrown off by the deferral, so i dont really know if on the off-chance i do get accepted that i will attend...not to mention im 90% sure ill be attending McGill University in Canada (i knew it was perfect for me after i found out they dont consider 9th and 10th grade years...without those i have like a 3.8, haha). im also freaking out because i got waitlists from Lehigh AND muhlenberg today, the latter i dont understand because my GPA is within their typical acceptance range and my ACT score is above the 75th percentile...anyway, i digress, but i really am freaking out because after the muhlenberg (aka a backup to mid) waitlist im thinking all my mid-to reaches will be rejections, including lafayette.

so again, when can deferred student expect a response? :)
