RD notification

I just saw on their admissions blog that they are done with reading all applications and decisions are made. I'm guessing they are going out in the mail in the next couple of days.

Good luck, westie. I know your daughter was deferred EA. Is PC her top choice? I’m pretty nervous.

Thanks tellch00! No it is not her first choice, but I think she would still like to see an acceptance to give her more of a choice. I can’t remember if you did EA and were also deferred, but good luck to you too!

Did not do EA. PC and Holy Cross were my two RD schools, with HC being a big reach but you never know.

Holy Cross is a reach for me, too. Holy Cross and Providence College are my favorites. I was deferred early action and hope to see an acceptance in the next week or less. According to the admissions twitter, the letters are being sent out Saturday, March 17, 2012. Good luck to everyone! Twitter[/url”>http://twitter.com/#!/PC_Perspectives]Twitter

thanks for posting about when decisions are being sent out…

daughter applied and Providence is her first choice.

is there an online portal for providence? if so i never got my login information…

No there is no portal. The decisions were mailed yesterday (pictures on their facebook and twitter). Depending on where you live, people will start receiving them tomorrow and throughout the week.

I just heard back, I was waitlisted after being deferred as an Early Action applicant. I really did not show any additional interest since there was very little likelihood that I would attend, so I am glad that I did not take a spot from any one who’s top choice was Providence. Good luck to everyone and I hope you all get good news this week!

did you get it in the mail? may i ask what state you live in?

I’m kind of half expected a waitlist too for my D, she didn’t send any additional info either after her deferral. When you get your response please list your stats and where you are from.

@xodance - It will come in the mail, probably today if you live close to RI, or tomorrow on the east coast.

Well that’s that! I was right - waitlisted. It’s fine though, like I said we expected it in a way, especially in the deferral letter it said to specifically send in additional info and/or write a letter expressing interest which D didn’t. Anyway it has fallen from a top 3 choice to the bottom in the last 2 months, so she will send in the thanks but no thanks waitlist card and be done with it.

Good luck to everyone else! And by the way D’s stats were 1820 sat and 3.7 gpa, so this was a target school, but no worries here.

Daughter received a big envelope from PC today - don’t want to open it though. Westie, was the waitlist a big envelope?

PC has also dropped from her top spot. After much arm twisting to have her apply to Saint Joseph’s back in the EA group, we visited the school last week. My daughter wanted nothing to do with it, but after spending the day there and attending 2 classes, she absolutely loved it!! Wife and I are shocked at this development.

While we were sweating the PC and Holy Cross news I guess i’m relieved that it won’t be crushing if she doesn’t get in at either.

@tellch00 - small envelope for waitlist, so your D is in. Congratulations! Maybe when she sees that she will change her mind again. My D is actually still up in the air, she has a few acceptances and still waiting for 4 more. Right now out of the ones she is accepted to Stonehill is her favorite but we will see. What was your D’s stat if you don’t mind me asking?

Daughter also got the big envelope from PC. She got in. 1940 SAT, 3.98 WGPA, lots of strong leadership and EC, top 10%

I had heard that PC gave very good financial aid, and unfortunately we only received 8K in scholarship, and the standard $5500 in loans. No work study or anything else, so I don’t think PC is in our budget.

I wish all of you good luck if you haven’t heard. It all works out in the end!

Accepted at PC today! I was deferred EA but sent a letter in January about why I liked their school. Maybe that helped? Either way, I think it’s too expensive for me, but I do really love it so we’ll see what happens. Still awaiting Holy Cross, but I’m expecting a rejection from them…

I was accepted today! Not super impressed with the financial aid. At all. Any info on how Providence typically is for aid?

Just got my acceptance letter today! I applied to Providence on a whim and was not sure what to expect but I’m really glad I did. I was also accepted into their Liberal Arts Honors Program.

I got wait listed and I don’t understand how this happened… I have a 1930 SAT and 3.5 gpa, Catholic School, Great Recommendations, Currently working, 10 out of 12 season athlete, Religious involvement, community service, leadership, NHS etc

@danceloverx3 - I understand how you feel, my D had similar stats as yours so it would seem that you would get in. But from what I have been researching the last few months about PC is that they can be quite quirky with who they admit. I know for a fact that they admitted lots of kids with lower stats than you. It might help you if you go to their website and read their admission counselors blog. There are many reasons that they list for denying or waitlisting students, among them spelling errors on applications or having a generic “why PC” on the optional essay portion. Also if you look at their Common Data Set from last year they let in many students off the wait list so if you are still really interested get on the list and maybe write of letter of strong interest.
