I know the email from Gail Sweezey said to expect notifications near the end of the month, but does anyone have a more specific date?

Stressed: I suspect late March means just that--probably March 30 or 31. I'm hoping for those who are accepted they also send FA awards along with the admissions decision.

the rd decisions have come out ;at least for international students
the fa award goes along with your admission result
best luck !

Sky, didn't you apply EDII? (I just re-read your earlier thread).

Hey Sky, how did ye know that it came out? Why don't they just email the applicant, instead of snail-mail?

yes I applied ED2;my friends are rejected, waiting listed and admitted through RD. They are Chinese, so maybe it's only the international students' case.
best luck!
oh they sent emails to let you know the result.

Thanks for the clarification, Sky. I'm sorry to hear about your friends who were WL or rejected.

I agree it sounds like they've notified internationals via email but domestic applicants who applied RD haven't received their notifications yet.

Acceptance and FA package received today

I live in Philly area. Would like to hear about how the rest of you fared! Best of luck to you all!

Congratuations!
I know you can make it.

I got my stuff in the mail today! In with a $13,500 per year presidential scholarship. And a handwritten note from the guy who interviewed me! It was very nice.

DD just got her acceptance letter today with a $8,500 scholarship ( Deans). Very nice, the higher presidential scholarship would have probably sealed the deal. Gettysburg is still at or near the top of her list. This makes 4 acceptances and 1 waitlist. Only 6 more colleges to hear from, with a chance of merit money from 1 of them. We didn't apply for any need based fin aid.

Yeah dudes! Congratulations to all who were accepted.

I myself got accepted with the Presidential Scholarship ($13,500 for the win) and a nice note from whoever read my essay.

Man, i'm still hyper from getting accepted!

Congrats to all. I'm very excited and glad for all of you!

SpringfieldGirl will have a very tough decision, since G-burg's generous offer makes it more expensive to attend her current #1 choice. We will probably attend Get Acquainted Day on April 21st before she makes her decision.

I got my acceptance Friday... which was a huge surprise considering I thought I hadn't applied. I never sent in my supplement essay or application fee or resume or anything, but I'm really glad I got accepted now! It's becoming one of my top choices.

Has anyone done an overnight yet? I'm going to do one in April, but was just wondering what to expect out of it.

My daughter did an overnite in Nov...and was less than thrilled. She was paired up with a science/math major, the only problem, my daughter is a English/history student and had to attend her classes...I forget the names of the courses but they were pretty intense and held no interest to her. Poor planning on G'burg's part. Her host had to leave for 2 hours that first nite and go to a science dinner and my daughter was left in her hosts suite and the other girls ignored her. Not a very good trip but my daughter decided inspite of it all she still liked G'burg.

Kate; my D had a different experience during her overnight at Legacy Weekend in Oct. She was paired with someone whose Dad I actually know (although Admissions didn't know that when they paired them together) and the two girls have very similar interests and majors. Also, the student's roommates were very accomodating and actually helped D with homework that was due that she had to email to her teacher. Also, another one of them actually accompanied my D to an appointment she had elsewhere on campus the next day even though she didn't need to. But it may have been because my D's a Legacy, who knows?

However, the overnight my D attended had a couple of organized activities for the h.s. students so it probably wasn't your typical overnight.

When you book the overnight, I'd make sure they know what your intended major is and that those are the classes you want to attend.

PM me if you have any questions.

To those who were accepted what are your stats (esp. ACT & GPA)?

sorry for double posting but i'm very confused:

If you click on * Congratulations - Class of 2011* on the Gettyburg website they say

"Congratulations on your acceptance to the Gettysburg College Class of 2011! For an entering class of 685 students, we received over 6,100 applications - the largest applicant pool in the College's history."

685/6,100= **~11% acceptance rate/b

However Gettysburg states that **last year's rate was 43%/b

How can this year's rate be so low?

They probablly sent out over 2,000 acceptances. Last year their yield (% of accepted students that matriculate) was about 31%.

I got wait listed. I'm pretty surprised by this but it's not a big deal because I got into Dickinson which is a better school academically. Never the less, still a surprise.
