Sorry the hear that, Gurgie, but many congrats on Dickinson! D'son is an excellent choice-both my Mom and sister are D'son Grads, which made me a double D'son legacy; and I was accepted, but I chose my own path.

FYI: I was just lurking over on the Muhlenberg forum where there was a post by a h.s. student who was waitlisted even with excelllent stats-he/she assumes because he/she didn't show much interest (no interview; did not attend any scheduled events). I'm thinking similar schools like Gettysburg may make a lot of admissions decisions based on interest shown by the prospective student.

I think you may be confusing the % of applicants who were accepted with the % of applicants who are expected to attend. Last year according to the college's website, the college received 5310 applications for a class size of 730; to get 730 slots filled, they accepted 2183 applicants or 41% of the people who applied (also from the school's website). 33% of those who got in decided to attend the school (colleges refer to this as "yield". This year, if they received 6100 applications (a rise of 15% over last year) and are looking for a class of 685 freshman, assuming the same yield as last year, the college would have made offers to 2076 students or to 34% of the students who applied. If they end up with the same size freshman class as last year and assuming the same yield as last year, they will have made 2183 offers of acceptance or accepted 36% of the students who applied. By the way, the rise in applications at Gettysburg looks impressive at 15% (if my math is right), higher than the 10% rise I believe may have occurred at Dickinson (see Dickinson thread) and lower than the 23% rise that seems to have occurred at Franklin and Marshall (see F&M thread). F&M may have benefited from the fact that it went completely SAT optional for the first time this year.

Ya, I visited but thats about it. The baseball coach and I talked just about every day but I was never interviewed or anything. I also applied to F&M I'm pretty sure I'll get in but hey, you never know lol.

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted...make sure to come to get acquainted day! It sounds lame but it's actually a ton of fun. Every student on campus participates, every department is open to students....it's a ton of fun. come the night before if you can and the students usually demonstrate how a gettysburg friday night is spent too!
