RD or ED to Bates?

Hello, I was wondering if someone could give me perspective on where I stand with this school. I love both Bowdoin and Bates, but I acknowledge the fact that Bowdoin is a more selective school. I feel that these are the two schools that I want to go to, but I can’t decide if I want to apply ED to one of them. If someone could evaluate me on my chances to Bates RD and ED I would appreciate that. Having deeper insight to how I may sit with admissions will help me make my decision on applying ED to one of these schools.
Here are my stats:

Freshman GPA: 2.8 (rough, rough year)
Sophomore GPA: 3.7 uw, 3.8 w (took bio honors)
Junior GPA: 3.81 uw, 4.41 w Honors (Chemistry, Modern U.S. History, Lit Genre & Style, Spanish 4)
I took all honors courses last year, with the exception of pre-calc. My school doesn’t offer AP’s.
I am taking all honors courses again this year (Stats, Adv. Bio, Human Rights, Contemporary Lit, Spanish Culture).
I’m dedicated (really I am) to getting all A’s again this year.
School doesn’t have rankings.
I would like to pursue a major in Neuroscience.

Honestly this is a difficult question to answer partially because we come from different parts of the country. Both schools value geographic diversity, so coming from California can help you .Last year, at our High School in the northeast, Bowdoin, took only 2 students, despite many applicants, and these 2 students were both athletes. This year, Bates has already signed a lacrosse player from our school. Because these schools are so small they generally will take only 2 students from a high school. My gut feeling is that your overall GPA is not high enough for Bowdoin either ED or Reg. I am not sure about Bates which can be more eclectic in it’s selections. I am sorry, it sounds like you are a fabulous student, with alot going for you, but these are two very small schools and they are not interchangeable, they have 2 very different vibes. Good look with your decision. Would love to hear what other people have to say.

thank you Mindy. Yah i know my gpa makes it a long shot for Bowdoin, so I am trying to get my ACT up to a 31. I was wondering what people felt about my chances of getting into Bates RD were if I could get my scores up. In terms of student body i realize they definitely have different vibes.
Since I feel these two are the two schools I’d like to attend, I’m thinking it may just be more strategically savvy to apply ED to Bates seeing as though my chances to Bowdoin are slim. So, the question I am posing I guess is what are my chances of getting into Bates regular decision? If it is slim, I would apply there ED. I would love to hear others opinions.

I sent in my ED1 Application to Bates. How are my chances for acceptance? I’m sooo nervous.
