My son’s applying RD Biomedical Engineering.
We’re from northern California.

Son has applied from Asia - Computer Engineering. Not visited yet, will do in Spring break.

Random question for anyone who goes to Wash U, but how’s the dance team? Also, is there more than one dance team, or is Jive the only one?

hi all. i’m from atlanta, georgia and i got into WashU through ED.

my main reasons for applying to Washu were its pre-med track, its student body and its professors. the students told me that the professors do their best to help you succeed and after an interview with one of the chemistry professors, i agree. the students themselves were friendly and relaxed, which made me relaxed. i “plan” to major in biology, but really my major is still up in the air.

outside of academia, i play the violin and i kind of sing – never did chorus, but i’m not completely tone deaf either. i’m interested in the a capella groups, but we’ll see. i also hope to continue community service at WashU.

i hope to meet all of you at pre-orientation and orientation. :)

^Congrats on your acceptance! I’m applying to WashU RD:) Speaking of the premed track, does anyone know how many people are usually accepted to the University Scholar Program every year? I tried to look it up but couldn’t find any information…

did anyone get an email about missing parts of the app??

I just got emailed that I’m missing my teacher rec but my school sent everything else

Hello everyone. I applied to Wash U and also the Ervin Scholarship. There seems to be a lot of Marylanders that attend Wash U. By the way, I’m from Maryland.

Cacciato, if your school sent those stuff recently it’s highly possible that they haven’t processed everything yet. Also, the admission office tends to be more lenient with the deadline regarding the materials that have to be sent in by your teacher or by your counselor, since those are somewhat beyond your control.

@bailey: I was going to apply to the Moog scholarship but ended up not having time to finish the app. *sigh

@ xrCalico23, I was wondering the same thing, about the University Scholars Program.

Does anyone know if Moog/Mylonas/Compton/Lien offer any half-tuition scholarships? The scholarship packet Wash U sent out says that they offer up to four full-tuition scholarships with $1,000 stipends, but I’m just curious as to whether they offer other amounts.

What are the acceptance rates for those (like .5%? lol)?

Cacciato: yeah. I got that asking for my counselor stuff, however she sent them in like a month ago.
So she resent them on the 15. Hopefully, they’ll get in on time. If not, I hope that WashU is as lenient as xrCalico said…

@taintedlove: All four offer up to 16 half tuition scholarships.

Good luck to all who applied for the scholarships. I’m sure we all need it! :)

Regarding the university scholar program, I found an old CC thread about it that basically says the acceptance rate is incredibly low, something like what motion12345 said, and that it’s really hard to maintain the GPA and get the MCAT score they ask for.

Applied from St. Louis, my mom works on campus so obviously a first choice due to finances. Anyone worrying about St. Louis, don’t. For 4 years its not boring at all, you’ll find plenty to do and explore, the city is really on the up. Also the crime reports and everything is blown way out of proportion, especially if your living around WashU, neighboring Clayton is the wealthiest municipality in Missouri. And I completely agree with earlier posters that being on campus is like walking into a portal. When I took my official visit I didn’t even feel like I was in St. Louis.

I applied, do not think i will get in.

LMU10: Aren’t ALL gays awesome??? I know, I shouldn’t stereotype. But I am from SF, so I should know.

Good luck!

Yes, all gays are awesome, until they hit on your father. X)

…*sigh. If only Wash U actually cared about touching essays. :(

Wait so, Financial Aid hurts decision chances?

WUSL is NOT need blind. They factor your ability to pay into their admission decision. But they do offer financial assistance.

AVHS Dad - Would you care to back up your statement with facts, about ability to pay being part of the admit decision.
