RD Transfers

Not necessarily. Others were accepted after those e-mails went out.

Thanks for the prompt reply! I'm still very anxious though. The suspense is killing me.

I just submitted my deposit slip to UChicago, indicating that I will not be attending:)

Someone on the waitlist is going to get my spot! (Pssst, pip-pip, I hope it is you!)

Good luck!!!: ): ))

Even if pip-pip gets your spot, the rest of us are still benefiting from that so...thanks

Aw, shucks nspeds...

So why didn't you choose Chicago Neil?

...this is going to sound awful, but I just did not want to risk lowering my GPA. I initially thought this fear was poorly grounded, but several professors and students confirmed for me the poor grading distribution.

As much as I love to learn and as much as I love the rigour, I have to keep an eye on my GPA, especially given my goals.

law (10 characters)

lol at law

Well... both law and graduate school. I plan to go to both.

Also, many of the students I met seemed quite miserable.

I'm assuming you are talking about Chicago students rather than law.grad students.

I have only met (besides CC) 1 person who studied at Chicago and he wasn't that fond of it. He did, however, suggest taking summer classes as "that makes the pain more bearable" :/

I have a friend there who loves it.

waitlisted...
hey guys, those of you who got waitlisted, are you going to do anything else besides sending final transcriots to get off the waitlist?

I met many who intend to apply as a transfer to other schools next year, many others who are in the process right now, and even more who want to transfer, but cannot since their GPAs are so low.

The trustable collegeboard says that Chicago's retention rate is 96%. Isn't that pretty high? That either means that students are happy or, like you pointed out, don't have the GPA do transfer to another school. I think the former is more common, or at least I'd like to believe that.

Nspeds, if have some details about why people want to transfer out that would help me out,
Thanks

Note that I never said all students want to transfer out, I said I met many who do. I also met many students who were fed up with their first year, but enjoyed the years after because they adapted to the rigour.

Some people felt that they were working too hard for the grades they were given, others felt that there were other things in life to enjoy, which the workload at UChicago prevents them from doing, others felt that the campus is not very communal, others were rejected from their choice colleges as freshman and still want to go there, and others are very unhappy with the social life.

From what I have heard, the advising situation at UChicago is very poor, with each advisor being assigned 100+ students. Not that one college is better than another, but I have two advisors at Georgetown who both have no more than 10 students whom they are advising, and a dean who advises everyone in the sophomore class. If I ever need help, I know where to get it, and I have many options for doing so.
