As well you all should be! From what I’ve seen, it’s pretty great to be a 21st Century Scholar! I’m amazed that I was bestowed this honor!
In fact, I’m still sort of in shock. The excitement of today has sort of made me dizzy…
Anyway, congratulations to your daughter! :)

OH WAIT My dad just showed me how to read the form, it turns out we do have enough! Phew… I’m glad I got a scholarship, though. :)

@Cranjack: I’m so sorry about Brandeis! Nothing at all!? Well, at least you can go to Moho

Congrats/condolences where they apply, to everyone!

Hey any international applicant out there, I need to inquire about a supremely delicate matter (yes, it’s financial aid. You got it right!).

Has any of you received need-based aid from the college? I was awarded the Mary Lyon Grant, and while the grant is grand, it is by no means adequate. Is that about all I get, or is there more need-based aid on the way?

I was accepted by Bryn Mawr a few days ago and they gave me 47k $, which nearly doubles the 25$ that I received from MHC. Isn’t it a drastic gap? That’s why I’m wondering.

waitlisted. That’s it for me.

REally nervous right now. Is the financial aid award final? Has anyone received MHC grant along with the Mary Lyon one?

I was accepted! Surprised actually because MHC was pretty much my last chance (after being wait-listed by Gettysburg and Brandeis and rejected by Smith and Oberlin) so I’d pretty much written off college this year. Financial aid isn’t as much as I would have liked - I got a Mary Lyon grant and a leadership scholarship, august23vn - but my parents say they’re going to pull the money together. Guess I’m going to college in the USA! (I’m from Liverpool, England :D)

I’m holding out hope for more aid coming along the way, considering that none of us (well, just a casual presumption) has yet received MHC grant, because there’s no way I can make it with that 25k $.

I’m leaning towards Bryn Mawr, though.

My financial aid page says for fall: $14,8783
and for spring 2013: 12, 783

What is this supposed to mean? is this semester wise aid or if i join the fall i’d get 14k or spring then i’d get $12k?

If its that, then bye-bye MHC. Can’t afford it at all.

If I ask them for more aid, would they consider it?

Yeah, I’m seriously questioning the financial aid they offered. And MHC claims to be 100% need met.
@veethiv: Is it a Mary Lyon Grant?

got waitlisted as well. and seriously I don’t know what to think of it.

i’m an international with a demonstrated need of 80% of the total value. if I’m not good enough to be accepted and receive aid, why da hell waitlist me? I mean, even if I manage to get in, would there be any aid that would make it possible for me to attend?

Accepted with leadership scholarship! Congratulations to everyone else who received good news!

I still can’t log in to see my financial aid package I’m logging in as a new user, but they can’t validate my information though I know for sure I’m entering the right information. Did you guys have trouble with verification? If I have two first names, should I type in both?

I already sent a message to the student financial services. Do guys think it has something to do with my spring acceptance (instead of this fall)? I need to log in now :(

august23vn: I was awarded the MHC grant and the Mary Lyons grant. I think all aid is online.

“Shewas” and “Andshewas,” are you big fans of The Talking Heads? haha :D

I have never heard of The Talking Heads. “shewas” was just the first thing that popped into my head when I was trying to come up with a username. :)

Then I will have to wait until Monday to figure out exactly what is going on.

Google “And She Was” and you’ll see what I am referring to. Talking Heads was a band in the 80’s which was quite ahead of their time. The “old folks” on here can relate…haha.

^ Ha, love that band

I was waitlisted. What am I going to do now?

I just wish we could know WHY we were waitlisted. Just that.

I guess the reasons could be:

Industrial reasons (or stats-based reasons) - You’re overqualified and they don’t want to decrease yield rates. You’re not overqualified, you’re qualified JUST ENOUGH to attend, but they’re using YOU as THEIR SAFETY in case other candidates decline to attend.

Lyrical reasons - You’re qualified but you didn’t seem interested enough to attend, so they want to see if you want their college reaaally badly. (: Or you NOT QUALIFIED enough, but you seemed SOOO interested they were sorry to give you a straight cold rejection.

Am I missing something?

Now, are we self-aware enough to figure out WHY we were waitlisted and how we can get the hell outta of the waitlist?
