RD Waiting, Class of 2016

Awesome idea, the wait is killing me too

California

Green!

Horseback riding

Here it goes… two dogs, two cats, two horses, three fish, an older brother and an older sister

Hopefully Middle Eastern Studies, but anything in International Studies would be good

I watch an episode of The Office almost every day when I get home from school :P

Let’s see… EVERYTHING! The majors offered, the environment, the equestrian team, and I’m still deciding if an all girls’ school is the right type of place for me

Wow! You guys are from all around the world! Good luck to everyone! Oh and @ alisyn, horseback riding is an incredible sport so hopefully you’ll be able to participate in it at MoHo

Georgia!

Royal purple/bluish purple

Piano, oboe, marching band (and these aren’t hobbies, but MarioKart Wii and The Big Bang Theory are two more of my favorites)

Cat, Ixta, and brother (14) who only plays Minecraft all day

MUSIC! and MATH! and CHEMISTRY! (music is a definite, then the other two are switch-offs)

A confession? I have food phobias. I’m terrified of trying new foods. Like, my stomach clenches up. I eat like a six-year-old… thankfully I have a boyfriend who is supportive, so now I like vegetarian sushi <3

I thought it was cool… and then I visited. Golly bizang, they have a beautiful campus. And everyone’s so awesomely smart and nice! :)

just to chat,
@worldwarme: what made you want to graduate early!
@Faryal: amethyst is my birthstone! yay!
@alisyn: I feel you on the girl-school business… I applied to Smith and Wellesley, but I love hanging around guys. and yeah, I don’t ride horses either but I think that’s cool
@xtea: thanks for doing this, now it’s like I’m getting to know people rather than checking neurotically to see if anyone’s got a letter yet :)

Portland, Oregon

Blue and Yellow

Drumming used to be a hobby and now I drum all the time so it’s more of a job. Teaching drums, being section leader for percussion and competing with my school’s Wind Ensemble, playing drums at all the basketball and football games. So I guess a new hobby is juggling and I’m teaching myself ASL.

Step sister, two dogs and two cats

Major: Romance Languages, maybe looking into the 5 College Certificate for Cognitive Neuroscience or the Nexus minor of Education in Society.

I start learning about something and then move on to something else a lot and therefore have a basic knowledge of random things like knot-tying, synesthesia, dams, and dog breeds.

I stopped by MHC when I was on a whirlwind trip of the east coast visiting 20 colleges with my dad in 9 days. We decided to check it out because my friend goes there right now and I was totally impressed by the facilities and what majors were offered. Then I found out I could play in the UMass drumline if I go to MHC and now I’m obsessed! Being in an amazing liberal arts college and an amazing marching band would be a dream come true!

I thought myself ASL as well! Booyah for not being a complete weirdo, as my friends pegged me.

@Cranjack, I can imagine it being so awesome! I wouldn’t go full on lady godiva, but hhhh, the awesomeneeeeesss…

Hahaha I hope no one goes full Lady Godiva when riding :)

Everyone is so complex and interesting on this thread and I think this gives us a great feel of what MoHo would be like: a school with strong, independent, passionate women. No weirdos here, only unique people ;)

so, to shake things up, I’ll bring up the forbidden topic:

What other schools did everyone apply to? and does anyone have a dream school other than Moho?

Heeeeck no, I’m a weirdo… my friends have it right, really…

I applied to so many schools, I hated myself by the time deadlines were coming. In all, 20 schools. Yey for broadness! And nay for not so unique essays! Woo! I will not be surprised if I fail at every one of those schools!

hahaha! I applied to 12 and I thought I was crazy. I respect you for being able to get out all those apps in time… were they all like LACs or did you do a bunch of different schools?

Thank you! Let me tell you, it was no walk in the park. It was like I was in a constant state of PMS. No me gusta.

I pretty much applied to every where they gave full aid for international students, within the 20 limit the common app had. I really wanted to apply to Occidental because it’s on the west coast, and I like me some nice warm weather. But I couldn’t, cause I had no idea what school to take off my list.

I’m not entirely sure which are LACs thought. I’d saaaay… half and half? I wanted to apply to Caltech cause they take ladies because not so many apply. But I don’t have a very good relationship with math and math tests, so I didn’t take the SAT2 in math.

wow! to change topics slightly, you’re from Romania… so, out of curiosity… I mean, you are obviously a fluent English speaker. So are you just living abroad, or are your parents American, or are you in an international school, or are you just really beastly at languages? haha sorry to be so weird and nosy

hahahaha beastly… I like that word. I shall steal it and use it to describe myself from now on.
Nah, I’m neither. I just really liked Scooby Doo when I was a wee kid, 's where I picked up English. Honestly, school taught me NOTHING. Like, I tried to learn German. I took 6 years of it, and I’m still not sure I can hold a proper conversation. Same goes for French. I am so hopeless at French, it’s not even funny

That’s awesome alisyn that you were able to pick up English as just a small kid watching good old Scooby Doo.

As far as other colleges go, I applied to 13 total, and have have heard from and been accepted to 8 of them so far. But I’m sure I have some rejections coming up from some reaches.

And I’ll tell the truth, there is a school that I have been dreaming about since I first learned of it, and I was accepted on Thursday to that school so I’m still really happy right now! That school is… Brandeis University.

But I still really like MoHo :)

And ooh Caltech, that’s impressive. I’m from CA and I can tell you not even many Californians apply there.

It’s so awesome that you guys are domestic students… I’m so damn worried about decision time, I can’t sleep properly. Congrats to y’all on all your acceptances so far! And good luck for the next wave

whoa cranjack, you’ve been accepted to eight!?! congrats  especially on Brandeis, since that’s your dream school! what is it you like about it, or is it just the feel in general? I know that college decisions are a multiple-loves affair for a lot of people  I am definitely one of those. and I just noticed I am totally spamming up this forum with my talkativeness… I’m mostly just glad to discuss stuff with people who are in the same place I am!

Thanks so much ermsypermsy! I actually haven’t been able to visit Brandeis, but based on what they have it seems perfect to me. They have my major, an equestrian team, they are both a research university and a liberal arts school, they are small, and I feel like I just described MoHo lol. But yeah it just seems like a good fit for me, but MoHo certainly is a close second.

What colleges are you thinking of?

And you certainly aren’t spamming up the forum; it truly is nice talking to everyone about this whole process.

Yeah, Brandeis is an awesome school-- it made my top 20, if I remember correctly! I applied to Carleton, Haverford, Lawrence, Macalester, Moho (obviously), Oberlin, Pomona, Smith (accepted!), Stanford, U. Rochester (accepted!), Wellesley (likely), and Yale (deferred SCEA). I’m currently in a state of disarray about my dream school, because I wanted to do Oberlin’s dual degree program with the conservatory, but then my audition was a spectacular failure… so yeah. :stuck_out_tongue: Moho’s near the top of my list, though. what were your 13? :D

Those are some awesome schools! And congrats on Smith and Rochester! So great! I can see why you can’t find your dream school out of all of those top notch schools. I’m sure you’ll do well wherever you go though. And I’m also sure your audition was just fine :)

Um let’s see… I applied to Mills, Baylor, University of the Pacific, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Willamette, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, Brandeis and MoHo of course, Lewis and Clark, Scripps (sister to Pomona), UC Berkeley, and Kenyon (my original dream school, but not as much anymore). The first 8 are the schools I’m accepted to, and the others I’m waiting to hear from fingers crossed

Maybe both of us shouldn’t have applied to so many schools and the decisions would be a little easier  lol

thanks! Well, congrats again on the first 8 – they’re all wonderful schools. and ha! My cousin goes to Scripps! That’s awesome

and yeah, I applied to 12 schools because I kinda got application-addicted and was almost having fun with it, and because I took a risk and didn’t apply anywhere in Georgia, and I wanted to make sure we’d get aid somewhere… it really is going to make the decision harder, though. my boyfriend only applied to 5, and I’m definitely the more stressed of the 2 of us.

Hope I didn’t miss this.

China

Pink and light blue

Movies, reading, and I also like do some painting

I have raised a beautiful new-born cat A-jo and a rabbit Abbey, but unfortunately , they both died from fever finally, which made me very said and I even afraid of keeping pets because I thought maybe Im not good enough to take good care for them

I hope I could learn communication or journalism , but Bio-tech is fine too

My failure in raising pets made me feel guilty , maybe I shouldn’t buy them back , if they have got a good owner , they may still live happily now

I really love everything about Moho! I love women college b/c I think education specialized for women could give me confidence and excellent education to become a successful woman , and in small community full of excellent women could give me chance to learn a lot from them. Also, the picturesque scenery in Moho is one of the reasons as well. Anyway , I love Moho and I can’t wait to be there!
