I applied RD November 28. Does UVA send out its RD acceptances/deferrals/rejections in bulk, all on April 1, or could it "trickle in" for those people who are also Jefferson Scholarship nominees? I'd assume they'd have to make sure you were accepted into the school before they gave you a personal interview.

If you get get that far along in the jeff scholar nominations you can assume your in. Also some particularly strong applicants may get likely letters in the sping. But no body actually gets the official acceptance until around April 1.

Acceptance do not trickle out as they're made. If you're in consideration for Echols Scholar status, you'll probably receive a "likely" letter around the end of february or the beginning of march. If you're selected as an Echols Scholar, as I was, you'll receive you acceptance in mid march, about two weeks before the rest of the decisions go out.

if you dont recieve a likely letter, does that mean ur not in or does it just mean ur not considered for echols?

If you don't receive a likely letter, it just means that you're not in consideration for Echols status. I was the only person from my school to receive one.

If you're ED, though, you obviously won't receive a likely letter, so you can't really tell if you'll get it or not until they send you the email with a special Days on the Lawn invite along with everyone else selected. Very few ED'ers get Echols, however.

I see how the likely letter is only for RD applicants, but if you were deferred ED, could you possibly recieve one?

I bet you COULD, but it doesn't really make sense that they'd want you badly enough to send a likely letter if they deferred you.

No, they send likely letters/Echols status for College applicants to those with very strong credentials, much higher than the College average. Anyone deferred ED obviously doesn't possess such stats/characteristics

Yea, thrills4ever, if you're good enough to get a likely letter, you would have easily gotten in ED.

makes sense, just checkin :)
