Re-Apply to Prep School or a Year Abroad?

Let's face it. I didn't get into boarding school this year (I applied for grade 10). The process is exhausting and time consuming, but had I been accepted it would have been worth it. I still have my fingers-crossed to get off of some waiting lists, but that holds little possibility. A year abroad, however, is open to anyone who wants to travel and experience a different culture. Yes, there is less focus specifically on academics, but the things your learn through your experience are just as valuable. Not to mention you become fluent in the language, especially considering I already speak a good amount of French. It would be tough to apply for both programs, since money is due for a Year Abroad right around the time that boarding school acceptances come out and why would I prepare for both if I'll only end up doing one? Also, I want to fly to these boarding schools for interviews so that I can show them my commitment so that takes excessive time and money.
What is your opinion?

I think it would depend on which BS you are trying for, whether you are more interested in academics or cultural experience, and if you are honestly ready to go through the BS process again.

Have you considered the UWC colleges? Some people have mentioned them. You should check it out-it’s specifically a BS for kids 16+
