I got rejected last year and was wondering if that would hurt me when re-applying this year to boarding school ... Or would it help cuz it would show that I am consistent ?

I’ve heard it actually helps you a bit, but just a bit because of you trying again.

I know of successes in reapplication. However, you should definitely make certain of fit issues and be able to make a significantly improved and more targeted presentation of your candidacy the second time 'round.

I know someone who got turned down at Andover then was accepted the next year. He’s headed for Stanford next month. :). But do be sure that you are in the ballpark as a reasonable candidate for the schools you apply to.

Buuuummmmppppp

I too, would think that it would help your chances. and think over things that might have made admissions choose one way or another and see is you can do anything about that. Something simple could have been what decided between you and another. If you do decide to reapply, good luck.

Think of it as this way, you will have a 100% better chance of receiving acceptance if you actually apply. Yes, I think you should give it a try, and I agree that it would be best for you to add something new to show how you are now a much better candidate and that if they pass you up again they are losing the next genius of the world.

I wish you great luck, and also receiving good scores on the SSAT along with some volunteering or impressive activity will help. Maybe a second language? I heard those crash courses in Rosetta stone work…?

Hope this helps :-)

If I was declined, I would be devastated and wonder what’s my purpose in life…
Sorry for the melodramatics.
I’d actually fancy a reapply though—if I am rejected. Hm…I’d do lots of crying now that I think of it…

PS It would help—I think.

Hahaha I speak 3 languages and am in the third year of learning with another one … I speak german english spanish and am learning french

I heard somewhere that you’re a lot more likely to be accepted when you apply for the second time. Perhaps the admissions office likes a bit of determination.

Not only that, but maybe because the 2nd time around, a lot of applicants know what the school is looking for. You would be more prepared for interviews, and would be consciously more involved in extracurriculars. Hopefully.

Good luck in reapplying. Hopefully we’ll both have good news in March.

BUmmmmpppPPPPP

Bumpsss

Many on the CC board had good luck the second time around. It’s worth a shot. As someone said earlier - if you don’t apply then it’s a definite “no” right? So what do you have to lose?
