Re-auditioning for MT programs after a year off

Between 2006-2007 I was a freshman MT major, that year, I felt that I really didn't fit in where I was at so I decided to take a year go to Community college and knock out some Gen Ed's and really evaluate myself and what I want to do with my life. What I found is that I can't stay away from doing theater. It is probably the only thing that makes me happy and is what I want to do for my life. (My dream is to opean my own theatre and put on old shows, and when I say old I don't mean 1970s old but George M. Cohen old).

Anyway I know that it is probably too late to audition for colleges for next year, but I was wondering what you thought about this. Is there anybody with experience of being in an MT program, leaving it, doing something ekse for a year and then re applying to MT programs, what was your experience, were you successful?

Yes, I know several people who have done this. For many it was beneficial, they either went back to their old college or auditioned for other places and got in. Some are working in the West End at the moment. Sometimes a year out can do someone the world of good. Good luck!

Depending on what schools you want to consider, it is not too late to audition for the coming year, but I would definitely get cracking on it. If you end up waiting one more year to audition, make sure that you are pursuing training in the meanwhile.
