RE:ESSAY - Can someone well versed in Scoring please respond? Perhaps Silverturtle?

Hello - here are the circumstances. If a student is a very strong test taker and earns the following - PERFECT 800 In Math and Reading, and then only makes 2 errors in Writing section, is it POSSIBLE if earning a high enough essay score that they could earn a PERFECT 2400? And if so, what essay score would they ideally need? (And are these ACTUAL stats found anywhere?? - or can they be calculated based on stats that do exist?)

Second part of that question - if that person wrote an 11-12 level essay, but their handwriting is readable but an unfamiliar reader might have to strain a bit to figure out the (legibility of) the exact words, do you think this would hurt the student and bring score down to a 10? (Also, please see my post re: handwriting legibility and the part it may play in the SAT Essay score!)

I got 2 questions wrong and a 12 on my essay in October and got an 800. Not sure if it would have been an 800 if I got an 11.

It is impossible to guarantee an 11 or 12 on an essay because it is random, really. Be as legible as possible, fill up two pages, be coherent.

You also aren’t slated to get 2 wrong on the multiple choice. Study that and aim for the overkill 800.

Looking at previous curves, you almost always need an essay score of 12 if you have 2 wrong on writing. It is possible for 2 wrong/11 to give you an 800 (this happened in January 2008 for example) but this is not common.
