RE: Harvard's my safety.

Haha, not really. LOL. So anyways, I was just wondering how much Ivy League schools or schools with comparable acceptance rates care about honors courses compared to APs. I come from public high school in CA, ranked about top 100 or 200 in the country. I have a much lower GPA (4.58 or like 4.6) than most students who attend Ivy League schools from my high school only because I did not take many honors courses freshman and sophomore year (I didn't take spanish 3 honors, algebra 2 honors, geometry honors, world history honors (took it as a summer school class but it was still regular)). Here are my courses year by year

Freshman year
English Honors-B,A
Geometry-A,A
Video Production-A,A
Bio Honors-A,A
Spanish 2-A,A

Sophomore year
AP European History-A,A
AP Human Geo (2nd semester only)-A
English 2 Honors-A,A
Chemistry 1 Honors-A,A
Algebra 2-A,A
Spanish 3-A,A

Junior Year
Pre Calc Honors-A,B
Biology AP-A,A
Spanish 4-A,A
US History AP-A,A
English 3 AP-A,A
Model UN-A,A

Senior Year
AP Calc BC
AP Physics C
AP Enviromental Science
AP English
AP Government/AP Econ. (1 class)

AP Scores-
Biology-5
Comp. Gov. (read the review book; no class)-5
Euro-5
US-5
English-4
Human Geo-4

I also participated in my school's science fair jr. year and students that do that usually are in a weighted science research class but I entered it too late to change my schedule. I basically completed the class w/o getting credit for it.

My question is how much will my chances be hurt by the fact that I didn't take the freshman and sophomore year honors classes, normally taken by top students, even though I took I took the same or maybe even harder classes as a junior/senior?
Thanks!

bump please!

by not that much

You will be viewed against your classmates, rank is key for top schools. Your counselor will also have to check a box ranking your rigor against that of classmates. It’s very unusual for someone without ‘most rigorous’ checked to be admitted to an ivy.
