Hi.
I've got an interview for Harvard with an alumnus next week.
I don't know much about him, but I googled him and I think he's about 50 years old and is a fairly successful businessman.
The interview is at a quiet cafe around 2:00 pm, and he told me it'll be about an hour.
How should I dress?
I mean, we're in New Zealand, and NZers generally tend to be more relaxed in dressing.
What kind of questions would he ask?
Am I supposed to like ask him questions and stuff as well so that we have a conversation, or do I just pretty much answer what he asks me?
Would he have read my essays, references, and other parts of the application?

Dress in "business casual" - no jeans, slacks and shirt but no tie. Be prepared with several intelligent questions to ask, but let him lead the conversation.

Not only in my country; in my city!
I think one of only two interviewers in New Zealand happen to live in Christchurch, which is pretty cool.

So are they gonna ask corny questions like "Why do you want to go to Harvard?", "What do you think you can contribute to the Harvard community?", etc.?

lol i think they will...maybe in a less corny way. i mean, thats what the interviews are for, right?

my interview is next week too. apparently my interviewer for yale interviews everyone from NZ and Aus...so you'll probably get a telephone interview too, unless u get into harvard:D

Harvard is one of the biggest landowners in New Zealand?!
Hmmm...
Didn't know that.
Heard that Cambridge University has quite a bit too.

And jay01, I will probably apply RD to other schools including Yale whether or not I get accepted to Harvard early, which is somewhat unlikely anyways.
The plan is to apply to the top six, and Cambridge, and to whichever ones I get into, I'll visit them around March/April and choose the one I like.
