Re: Prerequisites/Theory of Society and Culture

Hey
I just had a quick question. Does a listed prerequisite mean I have to take a certain course before registering or is it just a recommendation to have taken a particular course prior to enrolling?

And for those Old Curriculum IR majors out there, is there a good, not-so-demanding course that fulfills the Theory of Society and Culture Core Requirement? I've had MUS41 is a good fit but sophomores are usually hard-pressed to get in the course.

if it's listed as a prereq, you need to have taken the class. if it was only recommended, it would have said " PS XX recommended". sis can't catch you, so you could register for the class. however, if it's really high demand, the prof might bounce you out (rarely the case).
i'm a quant ec major so i can't help you with the ir req.

I took Western Political Thought when I thought I was going to be a Poli Sci major, and it turns out that fills the requirement. I took it with Sullivan, who is great, but I'm not sure who's teaching it now - I've heard bad things about Evrigenis. Western Political Thought II with Devigne is also supposed to be good.

MUS 41 with Jankowsky is a fantastic class. I am a junior and am taking it now. I would wait for it and keep trying until you get in. (That's what I did; I'd been trying to take it since freshman year).

Phatpat,

There are good literature and sociology classes you can take for that requirement.
