^ agreed, seriously, while it is nice to see it in writing again, I think as long as you have your initial letter it is pretty clear what you are getting. There was no contract small print or anything, just a simple one page letter.

*Like the others it did not specifically say that tuition amount would rise as tuition rises, but I do have the original of that from early on. I have a call in though, because if this is the official contract, it really needs to be mentioned in there.

is the scholarship supposed to rise if tuition rises for the lower level scholarships like UA scholars? at this point, i can’t even remember.

: /

^^^

Mike, since your D’s scholarship is the UA Scholar for 2/3 of total tuition, it should rise with tuition increases. But, send an email and ask for written confirmation.

yeah, it is 2/3 … but on the letter it states a specific dollar amount per semester.

i will email.

I emailed and got the following response -
Q …On the initial letter for the Presidential Scholarship it noted that the award amount would rise as tuition rises. Is this still the case?

A. Yes, that is correct. We have to estimate based on the value of tuition at the present time. We will not know the new tuition rates until the middle of the summer when our Board of Trustees meets. It will be changed accordingly at that time.

so, if a student were to be getting a scholarship from their department (other than engineering) would that be in the same letter or another letter??

DSs was in the same letter

Just to clear up some confusion–when I was waiting/receiving scholarship letters from the University they all came at different times and very spread out. I remember being very confused having not received them together. My honors scholarship letters came before my departmental, as did most of the people I remember talking to. Since all of you or your children have applied you can access myBama. The student receivables link in myBama could possibly have all the scholarships listed. It might be too early, but it’s worth a try.

I emailed about this and a representative told me that all scholarships should be included in these letters. I can only hope she’s wrong.

For a better idea, did anyone get a departmental scholarship (besides the one for engineering) or Alumni Association award yet?

So far, I haven’t heard of those being awarded/notified yet. Since the school is now on Spring Break, if they haven’t been sent yet, they probably won’t until the week of the 23rd or so.

Son received his scholarship letter yesterday:

*Presidential Merit Scholarship
*Estimated National Merit Scholarship
*Presidential National Merit Housing Scholarship
*One-time study abroad stipend/summer research allowance
*Laptop computer

We couldn’t be more grateful.

Congrats!!! :)

Yep, we got the same one as malanai, but we also got the engineering leadership scholarship. Very grateful!

Grazie mille, m2ck.
