Hello, I'm a junior who really wants to get into Princeton. I got my SAT scores back today: 800 on math and critical reading, but 720 on writing. Some people told me that if you have above 2300 you're good to go, but the kinda-low score on writing is worrying me.

Should I retake the SAT? And what about the ACT? Should I take that as well?

My son was admitted with SAT score: 800M, 790CR, 730W. He never took the ACT. His SAT IIs were M800 Phy800, Lit 730.

What are your SAT IIs? If you’re in the ballpark, skip the retake and spend time on things you love (unless taking SAT tests is something you love). :-)

Well, I got a 790 in Chemistry, and I’m planning to take Math II and Literature this May/June. I’m definitely aiming for 800 in Math, and at least 730 in Literature.

Haha, I hardly think any junior in their right mind would love taking SATs (though I got to admit that memorizing vocab was semi-fun, haha…). Thanks for the help! It greatly put my mind at ease!

Your CR+M= 1600(MAX), writing is not as important as you think. I would not retake it.

I’m with Dr. Google. Your overall score is excellent, and CR and Math are way more important than writing. Celebrate that you are done!
