gabrielamontez, thanks for the information. Did you see that on their website or e-mail from Stanford?

Actually, it may be a little bit later. My parents received a letter since they are legacy. Part of it basically stated that, because the deadline was extended to 11/4, the decisions may not be released on 12/15. It said the new notification date will be posted on the admissions website when it gets closer (I’m guessing in a week or so).

I don’t think the extended deadline will matter much because last year, Stanford extended the deadline to 11/5 because of Superstorm Sandy. Decisions still came out on the Friday before the 15th…and in the past, with normal deadlines, Stanford’s come out with decisions as early as 12/8ish…12/13 makes a lot of sense.

Ah this is awkward but… Can I apply for financial aid ONLY with the FAFSA file after I get admitted… It just occured to me that I missed the CSS filing date…-.-

0975… I give up, just call up the financial aid office, admit your oversight, and file the CSS ASAP. Many people are in the same situation as you and I can assure you that it’s not a big deal.

0975, just fill it out and sent it ASAP. Sending it late will just delay how long it takes for you to get your financial aid package.

I honestly think at the earliest we’ll see a decision on 12/15, but most likely a few days after that.

Wow, the 2017 thread had over 100 pages. This is really inactive.

Those who had interviews, how do you think they went? Mine lasted about 45 minutes and the alum kept saying over and over how it was just a casual chat and that it probably wouldn’t change my admissions decision either way.

I had my interview in the back of a McDonald’s parking lot.

Mine was a little over an hour. We just chatted about public education and my hobbies. No prepared questions, no “tell me about yourself,” nothing. We had to cut it short because my interviewer had a meeting. Overall, I’d say it was great!

My interviewer wouldn’t even take my resume, because he said the interview wasn’t supposed to be about factors on paper. He also said the interview could only help.

Mine lasted almost exactly an hour. The alum used “tell me about yourself” as the first question. Similarly to StanfordMan’s interview, S/he assured me that it was just a casual chat several times, and that it was simply a way for the school to get to know me better and for me to learn about the school. S/he also said that interviewers were not allowed to contact interviewees afterwards.

I’m a Stanford freshman, and I created a youtube channel where I answer questions. Feel free to ask me anything!

We had ours outside on a Starbucks patio. Not crowded at all, great weather, perfect temperature, but INCREDIBLY windy. Our stuff kept blowing away. Other than that, everything went great.

Casual conversation, really. I had a resume but he didn’t want to look at it. It was about 15 minutes of me talking about my background, hobbies, personality, and aspirations. 15 minutes of him talking about his Stanford experience and his children’s Stanford experiences. 15 minutes of random, tangential conversation about things like mosquitoes and Iron Chef and politics. He bought me a piece of coffee cake, which was nice. I made him laugh like 6 times, which was nicer.

I think it went really well. I don’t think I stood out as the best applicant he’s ever interviewed, but I enjoyed our conversation and I think he did too. Still though, he claimed that 99.9% of what they need to know about me was already in the application, so I don’t think it’ll count for much.

I think ours thread is less active maybe because of less applicants?

It might also have to do with the possibility that Stanford applicants are less neurotic then other elite school applicants. Just conjecture of course.

*than
Damn autocorrect

Perhaps Stanford duck syndrome has found its way into College Confidential.

@Youreadthiswrong

I think that we all HOPE that that is the true reason behind the reduced activity on this thread but i severly doubt that we have lesser number of applications this year…thats like almost impossible haha.

Its probs cause most stanford scea applicants this year are too busy saving the world or curing cancer to be on college confidential posting

I got you lol. Read my name again
