REA Class of 2018 Applicants' Discussion Thread

@Imspecial hoodie Allen>>>> so good.

This semester went horribly wrong…if I don’t get in early I’m screwed…like for real !

I read a USC three word prompt that went:
Humble
Sexy
Honest

@WTRW nahh imma stick with the WTRW instead lololol

@everyone else

this is gonna sound wierd but i thought of all my ideas for my essays in the shower lolol…for some reason taking a shower helps me think of essay ideas for college (other schools too :wink: )

My roommate essay was about my love for sports and how its gonna translate to life at stanford (made some nice stanford references :wink: ) ahha

I thought over what I wanted Stanford to know and see in my application then i just spent a weekend locked in my room typing away. Eventually it all came out I filtered it , refined it and bam. As for my roommate essay I talked about my weird taste in music and how it ranges from genre to genre, decade to decade with the 20’s being one of my favorite an how I wish me and him will be really close in the future as I feel we should support each other as we both made it in! Basically about being their friend and having their back. Hoping they would do the same to me.

For my roommate one I wrote about my love for cultures and traveling and connected that to learning about my room mate’s culture.

I just introduced myself in terms of the non-application portions of my character, including my food preferences, etc. I thought this essay was really fun to write

Yes Brogrammer, both students came from KS. Visited and enjoyed Sioux Falls one year for a soccer tournament.

I was just scouring through last year’s thread (looking for hints at when the date of notification or when they found out the date of notification was)… it gets pretty sad near the end after the results come out :frowning:
But based on what I found, its 99.999% gonna be friday this year… the only other options would be for it to be Monday,Tues or Wed but we would have already found out about those dates if tht were true…

Also, anyone find out stats for SCEA stanford class of 2018 (our class)? for harvard, columbia, most other competitive ED/EA programs have already released data on number of applications recieved. tht number for stanford would be kinda good to know as its been increasing pretty good over the years and to see just HOW much it increased this year

^^Stanford and Harvard have not released their early numbers yet…S usually waits for H to release their numbers first…in the early round and in the regular round…

Oh… That seems like a good strategy on their part. But I’m confident that I saw Harvard already released their class of 2018 application numbers (not number of accepts)

No. They have not.

I’ll post my essay topics (and maybe even my essays) only after the regular deadline has passed. They were all pretty strange and I’m proud of all of them.

@gravitas2 I am sorry, I mistook Harvard with Yale (yale released their info, harvard hasn’t yet)

[Early Decision / Early Action | The Ivy Coach](Early Decision / Early Action | Ivy Coach)

Based on the numbers coming in from other universities it looks like we’re going to be seeing a significant jump in early applications for Stanford this year

omg that stanford roomate essay and columbia essay really made me cringe. It was wayyyyyyyy too much especially the one about public bathrooms shudders . By the way any international students on this forum? I’m from Jamaica and I know I have like half the chance the rest of you guys have since I’m international either that or maybe I’ll stand out BECAUSE I’m Jamaican who knows lol

Yeah, I couldn’t stand those essays. They read to me as a disgusting mix of pretentious writing and crude, insensitive satire.

And oh man, that 2018 results thread is so scary… In just a week it’ll be full of some of the most emotional forum posts in our young adult lives.

I can’t believe that in exactly one week we’ll know if the next four years of our lives will be at Stanford or not.

And I can’t believe that I was too lazy to apply EA and have to jealously watch all you guys get accepted while I’m still writing my essays and won’t even know the decision for over three months.

If it’s any consolation, you don’t have to watch ALL of us get accepted.
