REA Class of 2018 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Well if so why would Princeton and Duke do that then? And I know they definitely do because my SAT teach was a Princeton admissions officer and told me and my friend’s aunt is also a duke admissions officer and told my friend that’s what they do. They pretty much said they do that because Americans don’t understand all the international school curriculums when compared to someone who lived/worked in that country but hey shrug

same @futuregatsby thank God I wrote my Stanford essays in a way that I can recycle them lol but then if I don’t get in I’ll feel like I’ll have to do my essays over cause they weren’t good enough :|

@crusader543 Oh yeah, that wasn’t for Stanford, that was for Boys Nation, sorry for the confusion.

Praying to my nonexistent religion right now.

O Lord of all Chinese American seniors, please grant me my desire to attend Stanford. Because seriously, you’ve done nothing up to this point besides stunting my height.

I want to major in Symbolic Systems, but it is a major unique to Stanford, unfortunately.

@crusader
I recycled my Stanford essays for almost all of my applications, like the UC’s, Santa Clara, USC, LMU, Cornell, BU, Columbia, etc. I just changed a few of the words/structure to make them answer the Q’s.

@ crusader

Dunno, Stanford is probably different.

Don’t know about Princeton, but Duke’s decision in my school kinda confirms your assertion. In 2012 they accepted a super nerd who excelled at school in my school over strong ECs and high SAT/Toefl Scores.

Just a guess, so never mind.

@FutureGatsby Oh yes!, we musn’t forget!
@Orbdas HAHAHAHAHAHAH yess!

I’ve decided I shall listen to aint worried bout nothing when I open that email. It will either be ironic or fitting. Let’s hope for the latter!

lol @Aegise I mentioned something about my shortness in one of my essays. But if you look at it this way, short people have a lower chance of getting hit by lightning.

How many other schools are you all applying to? I’m planning on eight, give or take a couple. But if I get accepted here I’m probably going to rule half of those out.

@Aegise

Don’t blame your Chinese genes! I’m Chinese and I’m 185 cm LOL

@FutureGatsby I’m applying to 12, but it’ll go down to 4 or 5 if I get accepted, and it also depends on financial aid for me as well.

OMG my list has 12 schools that aren’t Stanford…Oh please accept me Stanford so I can make that number go down to 4 or sth…

I’m applying to nine other schools (if) when I get rejected.

I’ve applied to six so far (3 of them safeties). I’m not applying anywhere else if I’m accepted. You hear that, admissions people!!! I’ll help your yield percentage if you accept me! Please!!! Please… :(

What schools are you all applying to? I’m doing ivy league + UChicago, and am preparing to get rejected everywhere.

Random question, but is anyone else terrified that they’ll get an email notification on their phone and it will give away whether it’s an acceptance or rejection? I just remembered that Gmail notifications show the first 5-6 words of the email body… Guess I’ll be staying away from my phone this Friday! Or at least turning off my notifications… Give myself some time to get into the right mindset before I open that email.

6 if i’m rejected, 1 if I’m accepted (stupid restricted policy), kinda sucks for people with two practically even top schools,

I’m applying to 12 more, I only have 3 left! and I got accepted to my safety of Grinnell. Still! it would be fantastic to be accepted to stanford. D:

probably HMC, CMU and Northwestern. Gonna take a shot at Harvard for the sake of my summer program there.
