Camping/ Hiking
Having camped and backpacked for over 7 years, I am an experienced outdoorsman with extensive survival skills, certified by both the BSA and NJROTC. I especially enjoy the physical and mental rigors of cold weather camping and am often called upon for my expertise.

Here’s what I don’t get about the whole “I’ll chance you back” thing- if you’re knowledgeable enough to discern someone else’s chances at another school, you know enough to not need to do a chance thread yourself.

That said, your ECs are great, but Notre Dame can get plenty of white males with great ECs without sacrificing their SATs. I’d say you have a shot, but a small one. Good luck anyway, though.

thanks for the chance back…and to answer your question, its all about psychology. People like to hear somethng from a source other than their own thoughts, as it helps to validify what they think…plus its just fun

I think you definitely have a chance. you have awesome ECs. I got in ND early action and Im also from southeastern pa. My test scores are a little higher, but you do have a chance. ND pleasantly surprised me by accepting me so hopefully you will have the same luck! Maybe they like PA kids! Apparently a lot of kids from Pittsburgh were accepted EA. Good luck!

thanks for the comment, anticipation16…and hey, you never know, colleges do recruit geographically from year to year. This could be PA’s year…

Personally, and I think for most people, any source at all is no better than your own thoughts. An opinion supported with credentials or knowledge I don’t have is much more useful. Also, validify is not a word (validate).

I can’t chance you, since I don’t believe I’m qualified.

However, I know from talking to ND alumni that community service is very highly regarded at ND. Also, ROTC is taken very seriously at ND and considering your past involvement in related activities and possible college participation, that helps your chances. Your leadership activities also make you stand out, especially boy scouts, something that seems to fit really well with the philosophy at ND.

validify…lol…guess i really am ND material…haha

did you apply for an NROTC scholarship?

sorry but the sat scores will hurt you, and RD non-legacy is very competitive

NROTC scholarship…already got it…but it may be rescinded due to the fact that i have a peanut allergy

any other people willing to share their opinions…thanks!

You may be too radical for Notre Dame.

??? care to elaborate?? no offense coldwind, but why would you state a comment like that without any explanation?

bump…

Jarad – nothing seems radical to me. And FWIW, the recent article in the SMC/ND paper indicated that test scores were important but that rigor was more important. Those already accepted for 2009 averaged 5 AP’s – seems you are well covered there. If the SAT isn’t quite where it needs to be try the ACT – the average there was 33.

ACT…my score best not be mentioned in front of any innocent person!!! and FYI for anyone else looking at this thread…i have been permanently DQd from ROTC scholarship for my peanut allergy
