Reach/fit/safety colleges good for me?

Hi,

I have compiled a preliminary list of colleges that i want to apply to this fall and i was wondering if i was reaching too high, too low or just right. btw i live in Texas.

unweighted GPA: 3.9
SAT scores: critical reading: 640, maths: 680, writing: 730
i hav taken many AP courses in my junior year (my school only offers AP to juniors and seniors
), havnt recieved the scores yet but in class i hav gotten As in all of them.
involved in many clubs, sport, yearbook editor, student council, speech team + awards, MUN + awards, i hav always gotten As in all my subjects in high school.
well here is my list: i want to study biological sciences/geentics/biomedical:

reach: University of Rochester, University of Texas at Austin

fit: Texas A&M University, UC Davis, Clemson University, University of Connecticut, Purdue University, Ohio State - columbus, University of Wisconsin-Madison

safety: University of Georgia, Cedar Crest College, Rutgers-State University of New Jersey--New Brunswick

please tell me if this is a good list for me. i want to get scholarships (merit) at any college so that is why there arent many hard + expensive ones on the list.

thanks a lot!

Let me know if you have any questions about Clemson! I’m a rising junior majoring in civil engineering.

Are you in the top 10% of your class? If so and if you apply early in the year, you’re pretty much guaranteed an in for UT Austin.

Thanks for the quick replies!
pierre0913: i will definitely ask you questions on Clemson when i have some. thanks!
xcloudy: i’m pretty sure that i’m in the top 10%. thanks for the advice :)

OP, are you considered a US student for applications (you stated “maths” for your SAT score)?

if you can bump your SAT critical reading and math score up to a 1370 (or get an ACT score of 31), you can be eligible to receive in-state tuition at Clemson (assuming you keep your top 10% ranking)

Erin’s Dad: I have moved to Texas and I used to live in Japan, Sweden and India before so I am just used to using maths instead of math
pierre0913: wow, really? I hav only taken the SAT once and I will take it again in october so i think i can bump up my score a bit.

yep! [url=<a href=“Dynamic Forms Guide - Student Financial Aid | Clemson”>Dynamic Forms Guide - Student Financial Aid | Clemson]Frequently Asked Questions : Clemson University/url

I’d substitute U of Pittsburgh for Rutgers. Even people from New Jersey don’t want to go to Rutgers.

FYI, UT auto admission is 9% this year [Automatic Admission | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/freshmen/after-you-apply/automatic-admission)

I think you look good for the majority of the schools you are applying to. If that was the first time you took the SAT, take it again because you can definitely bump your score up a little more (not that’s it’s bad, it’s good, but you could raise it more if you wanted).

OP, did you say you ARE considered a US student? I only saw an explanation for why you used maths.
