I am an Asian Indian male from PA interested in business or more specifically finance. I’m a junior and haven’t taken the SATs but am signed up for March. I have PSAT scores though to give a decent estimate for what I could probably score. Here are my stats.
GPA: ~98 UW, ~100 W All high As
Rank: 2/110
PSAT:1400
APs: Bio(4), Physics C Mech, Calc AB, 7 honors classes
Senior year: Most likely 2-4 APs and maybe an honors class
Most rigorous schedule in class
ECs:
Varsity tennis(3 years)- singles player, varsity letters, top 3 as a team in the district, play some sort of organized tennis all year
Model UN(2 years)- outstanding speaker, passed resolutions
FBLA(2 years)- Treasurer, first in regionals, attending states this year, president next year
Anti drug club(4 years)- secretary, a few events throughout the year and teaching kids about dangers of drugs
TSA Teams Competitions
Volunteering at local tennis clinics in summer
Played piano for a long time but no awards or anything, more of a hobby.
I know my ECs aren’t too strong but I think my objective stats are pretty good. So far I have looked into Pitt, Bucknell, and Lehigh. I am visiting later this month. I need a significant amount of financial aid but the NPCs were affordable. I think these three schools would be considered matches/low reaches for me? For Lehigh I’ve looked into the Computer Science and Business major which I think would be a reach for me but its my top choice right now. Meets 100% of need or decent chance at merit is really my only definite need in a college. I don’t really have any type of location preference, just within a few hours drive and a smaller to mid size school. I have also looked into Georgetown MSB but that seems like a pretty high reach. Any other suggestions?
Well done on looking at the NPCs in advance. What do you want to major in? CS or business?
I think you have a good sense of where you stand in terms of Match and Reach. Being number 2 out of a class of 110 means a lot though. If you do well on your standardized tests and continue to excel academically junior year applying to Georgetown is certainly not unrealistic.
@Wje9164be are my ECs weak for Georgetown and similar tier schools?
You wouldn’t consider Penn State or Temple? I think both business programs are good.
@“Erin’s Dad” I’ve considered Temple for a
safety and have thought about Pitt. I think Pitt is just as good as Penn State but I have a better chance at some merit money.
Not as weak as you might think. A lot of it has to do with how you package or market yourself. Again 2 out of 110 speaks to very solid academics

When you get your SAT scores, use this list.
@Wje9164be I think I might be able to get up to #1 by the end of the year.
@newjerseygirl98 Most of the schools with the large scholarships I have considered are safeties. Any suggestions for match or reaches?
Marist College
Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute
Ohio Wesleyan University
@LakeWashington Would these be matches or reaches?
Matches, with RPI being the most competitive for admission.
Look into Boston College, which meets need.
You could also get merit aid at these schools:
-Fordham University
-Loyola University Maryland
-Manhattan College
-Providence College
Beware that bc is very stingy if you own your house because they consider your parents should borrow against equity
@newjerseygirl98 @MYOS1634 I have looked into BC, but I’m not Catholic and 70% of BC students are Catholic so IDK if I would fit in. Also, our house has a long time left on the mortgage so not much equity there. I was thinking BC would be a low reach and and they have unrestricted EA which is nice.
bump, looking for more reaches
Typically reaches will be easy to find. Affordable reaches may be another matter.
What about Emory? Tulane? Fordham?
For a match, Dickinson (excellent international management major).
