Reach | Target | Safety Schools

ok basically the guidance counselors at my school suck so I'm looking for some real advice on reach, target, and safety schools! I'm looking for either a political sci, PPE, cognitive sci, or neuroscience major at small liberal arts colleges.

Some of my favorite schools are Bowdoin, Yale, Middlebury, Pomona, Colby, Haverford, and Tufts but I'm 10000% open to more suggestions!! (also: I'm happy to offer any advice, help, whatever in return!)

ACT I: 32
— E: 35, R: 35, M: 28, S: 28
ACT II: 33
— E: 36, R: 32, M: 28, S: 36

Unweighted GPA: 4.0 (~96)
Rank: no ranking available but most likely top 10%

AP scores: World (4), Environmental Sci (5), Language (5)
↪ taking Literature, Comparative Gov, and French next year (couldn't fit Macro)

Extracurriculars:
● Girl Scouts (Gold Award recipient; 2001-)
● Venture Crew (president; 2008-)
● Debate Club (founder, president; started 2012)
● Varsity winter track (since freshman year)
● Varsity softball (since freshman year)
● Summer intern at NYC design firm (2011-)

● 200+ community service hours
● Science research project on conservation of horseshoe crabs
● National Honor Society
● Yale Book Award Recipient
● U Rochester George Eastman Young Leaders Award
● Precollege program at Oxford University (UK)

You have excellent chances at all those schools. Ivies like to see 34+ on the ACT, but besides that, I think you’re very qualified for each one on your list (assuming you have a rigorous course load all four years).

In my opinion, here are your estimated chances…
Colby: low match / match
Haverford: match
Bowdoin: match
Tufts: high match / low reach
Middlebury: low reach
Pomona: low reach
Yale: reach

Good luck!! :)

Colby: match
Haverford: match
Bowdoin: match
Tufts: high match
Middlebury: low reach
