Reaches, matches, or safeties?

I'm unsure of where the following schools lay on my list. If you could sort out my chances for them, I would really appreciate it.

GPA: 3.8/4.5 (valedictorian will have 4.0/4.7-4.8)
Rank: 8/~520 (top 2%)

SATs: CR: 690, M: 620, W: 610 = 1920 (retaking, hoping for 2000+, but will probably end up submitting ACT)
ACT: E: 34, M: 30, CR: 32, S: 25 = 30 (retaking in either June or September, hoping to improve math and especially science; hopefully will get 32+)
SAT IIs: Taking USH, World History, and Math Level 2 (predicting scores, in order: 750-800, 800, <720)
APs: English Lang and US (from in-class practice + test books, predicting 5's on both)

Classes and grades as of junior year second semester
I'm doing pretty well in all of my classes. I get mostly A's with B's here and there. I take the hardest classes offered, but I take academic Physics instead of AP because of scheduling. (AP Physics = no Honors Spanish, there's no Honors Physics) My worst subject is math. In Trig/Precal, I got a B- first semester. I MIGHT have a chance of getting an A- this semester but will probably end up somewhere from a B- to a B+ (all depends on the next test and final).

Schedule next year (planning on taking all AP tests):
AP Spanish
AP Literature
AP Calc or Stat (only one - it depends on the scheduling next year)
AP Chem
AP Econ/Gov (semester each)
German dual-enrollment (one semester only - German 2)

ECs (counting senior year):
Key Club: 4yrs (member involvement award aka most active member, VP of home club, Division Secretary - consists of 15 schools over 150 miles, member of the month of the Division, Lt. Governor of those 15 schools)
JSA (co-founder, was co-president but I think I was overthrown while studying for Spanish during a meeting)
Invisible Children (2 yrs, would have been 3 but it died this year)
Interact Club (4 yrs)
Online Literary Magazine (2 yrs, founder, editor, another kid took charge)
Math Club (3yrs)
Science Symposium (3yrs)

Question: on the common app, they ask for hobbies along with ECs, I spend a large amount of my time writing and making online graphics. Is it worth putting down?

Awards/Honors, excluding ECs:
what everyone gets: Honor Roll + CSF
Student of the Year in Accounting ...
Girls State finalist/alternative (I don't know what to call it, they said I would have gone but another girl showed more interest, so I would have gone if she didn't) My counselor nominated me (she got to pick one person) so that was pretty cool.

If you need more info, please ask.

So I know my reaches (Stanford, Brown, etc.) and my true safeties (I'm getting ELC, which means into UC Davis and UC Merced) but for some schools, I don't know my chance with them. Here they are:

* American U
* Barnard C
* Colby C
* Georgetown U
* Lewis & Clark C
* Middlebury C
* Mount Holyoke C
* Reed C
* U Calif Berkeley
* U Calif Los Angeles
* Vassar C
* Wellesley C
* Whitman C

So, which schools are reaches, matches, or safeties? Thanks so much!

Bump, please. I just don't want to make the mistake of applying to too many schools where I don't have a strong chance at. Thanks!

I think its safe to assume you'll get into all those universities. The only questions are Berkeley and UCLA, if you live in CA you should be fine, if you live outside I would say they are a low match.

I think the only likely safety in your * list is L&C. Reed might be a low match, but it's a strong "fit" school. Georgetown and Wellesley seem more like reaches as well. UCB and UCLA have had unpredictable results due to outreach admits. The others might be low matches. Your ECs sound average. Google the schools' "Common Data Set" and check sections C7-C12 for data on the latest entering class.

viciouspoultry, vossron, thanks for your help.

You're applying to Barnard, which means you're a girl, so Vassar is definitely a reach for you. Look at their average acceptance rate and subtract 10% and you'll get the girl's acceptance rate (any acceptance rate in the low 20s means slightly erratic admissions, which causes it to be a reach).

You're in at American- if you get your M/V SAT scores up, you might have a shot at Honors (admission to honors rides solely on scores and GPA, sadly).

I'm not too sure about the others- those are just two that I applied to, so I have a decent idea.

And, erm, because I love my future college, I must say: Take a look at Bryn Mawr! I wouldn't say that if your college list didn't sort of lend its way to me saying it, haha. Seven sister schools are spectacular.

you need higher scores in your SAT and your ACT , at least 2200 and 32+. Good luck, we're on the same boat.. I want so much Georgetown! but I have 2000 SAT and 30 Act.. May 3rd I go for SATII...............!!!!!!

brillar, thanks for the info and suggestions, I'll check Bryn Mawr out.

Zuitar, I'm retaking both those tests soon. SAT in May and ACT in June. I made the stupid mistake of answering questions I wasn't sure on the SAT in January, xD.

Your stats are pretty impressive. If you are considering New England area, have you looked at Boston College and Holy Cross? I think both would be good options for you as they have excellent academics, beautiful campus settings, and lots of EC to choose from. I know you are trying to decrease your list, but these two came to mind when I saw your list. Good luck to you.

Both Boston College and Holy Cross are run by the Jesuits and have stellar academic reputations. BC is 9 miles from Boston and HC is 40 miles west of Boston. HC has 2800 students and BC has 9000. HC is the highest ranked Catholic LAC on USNWR. BC has the only division 1 football team in the state.

For UCs, your SAT is good enough for them. GPA is what they mainly go by.
