Read college essay please! Subject too touchy?

I really could use someone to look over my college essay. I decided to write about the death of my brother (in 3rd person) and I'm hoping it's not "too touchy" of a subject. I also am wondering if what I did is even appropriate for a college essay or not. I really don't want to ask any of my teachers because I don't wanna make things awkward with them, and I'll probably ask my guidance counselor to read it tomorrow but I figured some people here could help too.

Basically I just wanna know if it's okay, if it's too personal, and what I should change. Feel free to critique as harshly as you want, or even say if I it'd be better to change my topic. If it means anything, my #1 school is UConn. Leave your name here I guess and i'll PM you my essay, thanks.

I would love to read it and provide feedback. :)

sent, thank you

I’ll read it-- I tried to write on the death of my father and not sure I did very well… but this was years ago. I’ve dealt with so much death in my family, I still read and ponder it… so I might be a good resource.

sent, thanks.

I’d question, especially given the topic, why you’d write it in 3rd person.

And remember, this essay is supposed to be about You, so only if you can be using his death as a natural vehicle for that.
