It's humid as hell.
Bring a fan or you won't be able to sleep.

And bring an ethernet cable even if you have wireless on your laptop.
You gotta register your device before you can go wireless.

You’ll need a metal/nonflammage trash can. So much for my idea of using a scrapped cardboard box…

the humidity should pass though, only tonight because of earl. So happy to have finally moved in though :)

The move in process is Very easy. I got here an .5 hour early and within 30 min everything was up in my room.

the target here is starting to run out of things.

good luck :)

Agree with above. Shop at targets/walmarts/etc as far from the city as possible once you know what to buy. The target that most people go to is already barren. Every single college student in boston is trying to buy the same things you are, so try to get out of the city (or be williing to wait a few weeks).

Any suggestions for distant stores that are near a T stop?

um… I think there is a target way up by the wellington stop… But not much else. You pretty much need a car to get away from the ones everyone hits up.

There’s bed bath and beyond in Fenway, which is an easy walk and a cheap taxi back. They also do a good job of stocking up and organizing for move-in weekend, so it’s a good bet.

There’s also a True Value hardware/home store on mass ave, but it doesn’t have much of the dormy stuff you’ll be looking for.

Also, neuchimie is right, the nearest target is pretty empty, I went on the 2nd and every single decently priced coffee maker was sold out. By now it’s probably not worth the trip.

Yeah, but that place is also really close to BU, and they do a lot of pre-ordering/pick-up-in-store so it’s usually pretty busy. A friend at MIT ordered everything there and then picked it up when he flew into Boston. But it’s worth a shot.

True Value has some apartment stuff that’s nice, but it’s usually way more expensive than Target-types. But if you need something non-traditional like contact paper or a tool set, it’s a nice place to hit up close by.
