haha, good for you!

I thought the remarks about the current president being underqualified were interesting.

if any more intense action to drive Summers out of Harvard ensues I'm going over to NOW headquarters and protesting. That has to be the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard, demanding his resignation. First off, I remember when this first happened, they had tons of interviews with FEMALE scientists, agreeing with Summers that females do seem to be at a disadvantage. Also, most of these women said it was that attitude of the public that they wouldnt succeed that made them strive even harder to excel in their studies. If a person can't handle the looming possibility that he might fail, he probably won't make a very good scientist, since so much of his work will fail.

Hardcore feminists are so ridiculous.

For a picture of what Harvard will look like if the feminists get their way, just take a look at Princeton.

Wow, that's quite something coming from a Princeton alum. The author clearly has some issues about Princeton's president being a woman. His article isn't what you'd call 'objective', and he is obviously taking a biased stance on the issues. What I would like to know is what prospective and current Princeton students think about President Tilghman...

i dont really know much about princeton, its president, and nor am I applying to princeton but I came across this article . I consider myself a liberal person, but I have to say that some of the points the author made were logical, and although I do not completely agree with what he says, i don't think hes some kind of idiotic scumbag that other people said. I think, to be liberal, we have to consider what the author says from an objective standpoint. I completely disagree with his elitist views towards "backwards" nations and some of his other conservative views (abortion, stem cells), but he does have a point about how feminists and liberals are taking control of the campus, exhibiting a close minded view towards conservatives. It is hypocritical to call yourself a liberal if you are close-minded yourself, and are so entrenched in your own beliefs any opposition would be intolerable. That is why I think it is ridiculous that Summers was asked to resign for his comment. Also, to encourage females to go into the "hard sciences" simply for the sake of greater representation is also ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I believe that genetically, women have the same capacity as men to go into the hard sciences. However, women should learn science because they are good at it and enjoy it, not because the science field needs more women.
I think an important point the author is trying to make is that many liberals have made the word "conservative" to have a negative connotation; it is almost shameful to be conservative in many places. To have a tolerant, modern society American prides itself on, that should not happen. Extreme left wing liberalists are in many times just as intolerant and close minded as extreme right wing conservatives.

good point you made there , ronlivs
