Read your rejection letters..

A friend of mine received his rejection letter today (socal) but in the letter it says he is among a select group of students that USC wants to admit (transfer) in 2-3 semesters and that he can set up an appointment with a counselor sometime during June to plan it all out.

So make sure you read the letter! They might be able to hook you up with a transfer in 2-3 semesters.

I don't see why they would put this on every single rejection, can someone verify that their letter does not mention this?

Ehh thanks for bringing this up. I planned to tear up the letter the moment I take it out of my mailbox…I’ll come back when I receive mine.

Its usually for people with alumni connections that werent admitted. At least thats the only time I’ve seen it.

Really blanking on the word here… legacy, thats it.

Mine says nothing of the sort.

Dream - I am sooooooooooo sorry! Please consider appealing. I was told there were 50 successful appeals last year - You belong at USC! :frowning: :frowning: :(

I guess it can’t hurt to try. :(

Dream, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I know every parent here is devastated as if you were our own :frowning: And we all want you to appeal!!!

I am a mom who’s devastated! Dream, if you could just show them all your CC posts they’d have to let you in.

You must appeal dream! We’ll all petition to USC for you :)

Thanks for the info, his grandparents went there, so that must be why.

Condolences to everyone rejected. Congrats to those admitted. It has been a very draining last few weeks. Rejected at my top 6 choices, waitlisted at 7th, and admitted for 8th and 9th. One was a total reach, but I didn’t apply to any that I wasn’t in or above
the mid-range on the accepted profile reports and I had multi-legacy at the reach.
I have the USC ‘legacy’ reject letter, but it sounds more like a courtesy reject to me (meaning it doesn’t really mean much). They will make an appt with you in June to talk about how you might be able to work towards transferring in. Well, everyone can work towards transferring in. It is buried at the bottom, so I’m sure a lot of people would overlook it. Here is what it says (I will leave out my annotations, since I’m not in the best mood at the moment - but notice the word MAY):
“You are among a special group of students whose eventual enrollment at USC is of great interest to us. As such, we have set aside the final weeks in June, from the 14th to the 30th, for you to meet with a member of the Admission staff. Our aim is to counsel you subsequent to your hgh school graduation and help you establish a personalized transfer plan. Such a plan may assist you in gaining admission to USC as a transfer student within the next two or three semesters.”

I had completely overlooked it.

So basically it just for legacies and that they get a special appt with a counselor to make transferring easier?

WHAT??? Dream…you were rejected? Oh say it ain’t so…!!! Nooooo, that is so stupid.

Just took the thin envelope out of the mailbox…and yeah, not legacy, so nothing of that sort.

Dream and tornados, you guys will shine forever in our memories.

mimizist…I feel the same about you.

I’m a legacy but I never included than in my app and I got the message at the end of mine. My plans are changing so radically ever since this USC rejection. Might go to a full ride school for a year and transfer to USC if possible. Sounds good to me imo

thanks for posting that about the rejection letter. My DS has alumni connections (my dad went and taught there). he got similar language in his UVA rejection so we didn’t know if that was standard language. I will have to check transfer threads to see if it actually happened.

itsv, glad that it helped you. It would be a shame for anyone to overlook that, so hopefully people see this thread.

so does this mean that people with legacy could have an easier way of getting into USC as a transfer?

If only legacies get this, then yes I suppose so.
