A 3 on AP Eng Lang (or, for that matter, on AP Eng Lit) pretty much does nothing, in terms of satisfying R&C.

Doesn't a 3 on the AP Lang gets you out of the college writing test?

Ohh, you're right. It does. Sorry about that. It gets you out of Entry Level Writing, but it doesn't satisfy either half of the actual R&C.

Yeah- not so much, but it's something.

winterpolaris, the website you gave me is for the people in ls, but im in engineering. do you know where i can go for that?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but R&C classes are the same for all the colleges. But anyway, here's a PDF about the R&C courses for CoE: http://coe.berkeley.edu/current_students/hssreq.pdf

coe engineering students (not coc chemEs, though) can satisfy R&C part B with non-R1B/R5B/R2B classes. scandinavian 170, "Arctic Folklore and Mythology in Nordic Lands" counts, for example. the PDF linked above has the official listing.

I think it makes sense- UCLA has a similar system. they have writing intensive classes that aren't always like the R1A or R1B classes at Berkeley. Then again, there are advantages to these, as they are generally small, but I wouldn't mind if certain L and S upper-div or otherwise courses would satisfy the requirement for students.

has anyone taken italian r5a "italy at home and abroad"? its supposed to satisfy the r&c req, but i dont know if i should take it. also, it doesn't have any discussion times. is that possible for an english class or am i missing something?
