On previous ACT's, I have tried to complete the Reading and Science sections by reading the passages and then answering the questions. I have encountered some time issues as I am only a moderately-paced reader. My highest scores using this strategy are a 33 in Reading and a 31 in Science, but my goal is to increase both of them. I have read the entire Princeton Review ACT Prep Book and they advised that ACT test-takers look at the questions first, and then look through the passages for the answers. For those of you that have had great success in these sections, what strategy did you use to earn your high scores?

The questions first strategy is not a good idea in my opinion. It wastes time, and you have too much information you are looking for while you are trying to comprehend the passage. Your method is much more effective. Keep practicing!

for reading, i like to read the entire passage first. although to be fair, i really do have to rush to have time. but i feel like if I’m just reading the passage first, i can fully comprehend the entire thing. this will hopefully allow me to quickly answer the questions.
gotten a few 34’s, and one 36 on practice reading sections.

as for science, i’m looking for advice too. but i like to go straight into the questions and refer to the figures they mention. i’ve only gotten 31’s and a 32 on science
