And then There Were None- Agatha Christie

I loved this.

And then There Were None- Agatha Christie

I loved this.

Catch 22
any Dostoevsky
…and if you haven’t already, Jurassic Park

And then there were none <ME TOO. I really really recommend Agatha Christie even though some people say her books are formulaic. Pfft. they are good stuff.

Whoever mentioned Haddix, those are def good for quick easy reads. Good books.

Whatever you do,save yourself and don’t read this book.

The House of Mirth - Edith Wharton
The Prestige - Christopher Priest
Crime & Punishment - Dostoevsky <33333 this book and author entirely too much.
I also liked The Stranger (Camus), Heart of Darkness (Conrad - okay depends on if you have a brain or not. If you can’t analyze books, understand them, realize that EVERY SENTENCE of this book has meaning, you’ll hate it. If you want car chases or vampire love you’ll hate it)

That was me too. It sounds like we have similar reading opinions. XD

And whoever said that Christie was a bad author? o.O Her books are amazing page-turners!

^Yay! Hmm, nobody on this thread said Christie was, but I’ve gotten a lot of crap for enjoying her books a few years ago, haha. I’ve read like all of them now so I’ve sorta stopped.

what are some other books you’ve liked? I need books to read over the summer :)

As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner

Anthem by Ayn Rand

anthem was a pretty solid read.

I love the Enders Game/Shadow Series.

The Shadow books are much more exciting and easier to get into. I have read them all twice. I tried to read Speaker for the Dead 5 or 6 years ago and I couldn’t get into at all. Then I picked it up a couple of months ago and fell in love with it and read all the other books in the Game series including Ender in Exile. Fantastic books, really interesting philosophies and ideas brought up in them.

First Meetings is also definitely worth a read for the Ender fans. 2 stories about Ender’s Dad, John Paul, and his youth which really brings him into focus as a character. And one story about Ender’s travels to various colony worlds, in between Ender in Exile and Speaker for the Dead. And also the original Ender’s Game short story.

In addition I would reccomend:
In Cold Blood by Capote
1984 and Animal Farm by Orwell
Brave New World by Huxley
Clockwork Orange by i forget
John Adams by McCullough (fantastic biography)
All of Kurt Vonneguts Novels
All Shakespeare

etc

the perks of being a wallflower.
slaughterhouse five <3

Fahrenheit 451- Ray Bradbury

defiantly, short and a great read

[QUOTE=ChristianWu]
The Stranger is not lame. I loved that book.

Here’s my list that I loved:

One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest
The Stranger
Time Traveler’s Wife
Slaughterhouse Five
Joy Luck Club
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay
Catcher in the Rye

PS: Macbeth sucks so much ass. Don’t bother reading, it’s gore doesn’t even faze anyone. Oh no bloody hands OH MY GOD!

Withering Heights will kill you.

Ahhhh! I loved One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest!

I didn’t think Wuthering Heights was that bad though… And Macbeth won’t kill you; it’s hella short so even if it was unbearable for you, at least it was brief.

I’m gonna have to try this Ender’s Game series you all are suggesting =]

Wuthering Heights was such a bore, even my teacher told me I would hate it!

Ender’s Game is such a good book! You’ll love it. Macbeth was brief, but during that brief time our class analyzed it, I could have done another play that was much better, but the class majority over ruled my 1 minority vote lol!

Also, Perks of Being a Wallflower is also a good book. Easy read, and will make you want to be best friend with the main character. Such a once-you-pick-this-book-up-you-can’t-put-down book.
