Reading Comprehension Level Articles

Does anyone know any websites that regularly print out news/science/english articles that rival the difficulty level of the SATs? I'm not talking about practice test (since i've already exhausted most of them out there online) but rather, something like a NY times or National Inquirer. Those two websites are too easy though, i'm looking for some nut-busting articles that some pompus website makes that will make the harder (and longer) articles on the SAT seem like a cakewalk. Thanks!

And no, books isn't an acceptable answer for me =P. I'm trying to get as close as possible to simulating SAT type passages (and I already have verbal down with number2.com anyways)

Thanks!!! I greatly appreciate any help!!! ^____^

National Enquirer? You're joking me, right?..

SciAm is good though.

This is excellent, too. I would guess that reading high quality magazine articles is a good way of increasing your CR score. My regular reading since I was in elementary school has consisted almost entirely of news and analysis of current events - I rarely, if ever, read full-length books - and I scored extremely well on CR.

what are good quality magazines to read? New Yorker, Economist, Business Week, Time, US News, Time, smart money, national geographic, forbes, american legion, popular mechanics? They're giving out free old magazines at my local library. Is reading old magazines any different from reading current ones?

will I get a high CR score if I read quality magazines but neglect to read novels or classics? How would i get the most of my time reading the quality magazines.

I'd advise against using Time, US News, and Popular Mechanics for the specific purpose of trying to get a high CR score. Their target audiences are broader (by that, I mean less educated) than those of the Economist or National Georgraphic (also excellent, but I doubt they put their articles online.)

Novels and classics aren't very useful, I would guess, for CR preparation (especially since many of them use outdated, anchronistic vocabulary that the CB seeks to avoid.) They are still something one should probably read to be a well-rounded, educated individual, but that's neither here nor there.

I doubt reading old articles would make a difference.

Try AP passages maybe?

Maybe your English teacher would have some recommendations.

how does national geographic compare to the New Yorker or Economist? They have really long winded, documentary type articles that I'm doubtful if will help with CR. What magazines should I focus the most of my time with?
