I review all my profs at the end of the semester, whether good, bad, or mediocre. I rely heavily on RMP when choosing my classes, so it only seems right. There are definitely a few bitter people on there (there was a nice racist rant about my calc prof posted that eventually got taken down), but I’ve found the information to largely be true – the only cases where it wasn’t were when the reviews were a couple years old and the structure of the class had changed significantly since then. I would generally trust it if I were you, although like another poster said, the “easiness” rating can be kind of questionable – it really depends on your personal strengths and the unknown abilities of the posters whose reviews you’re reading.

If those nincompoops spend half as much time studying as griping about their professors, there would be no complaints. Then again, what can one reasonably expect from lethargic generation Y?

@limulus- grain of salt-that’s what I was going to say!

My friend’s dad is a physics professor, and we read his review. Most of them were on the negative side, complaining “his tests are soo hard!!@” but my friend revealed to me that her dad’s tests come from homework worksheets and the textbook. Also somebody complimented him on the fanny pack he always wears, but he now stops wearing them.

I usually trust ratemyprofessor, and it’s super fun when you search up famous professors like Condi Rice.
