I've heard that 1L students can, at times, be assigned over 500 pages of reading a week. Never having been a particularly quick reader, this raises some concerns for me.

Is there a way, with study and practice, that one can actually increase their reading speed without losing comprehension? Would you recommend a particular method?

The reading assignments in law school, particularly in the first year, require careful reading. It will have a lot of unfamiliar vocabulary.

My advise is to read it carefully, looking up all the words you don’t know. As the concepts being discussed become more familiar to you, you’ll pick up speed naturally. But this is a process that can’t be rushed.
