To those of you who have has success in the reading portions of the ACT, what was your strategy?

From practice tests, it seems to me that looking at the question and then skimming the essay is the best way, but I'm not sure and looking for advice.

And reading the whole thing seems to difficult to finish in 35 minutes.

Thanks!

I actually read the whole thing (though I’m a fast reader) and then I answer all the questions. That way I don’t have to look back at the passage too much. But don’t absorb the whole story, read fast, you don’t have to understand all of it. It will also help to look at what quotes are in the questions and note that you’ll have to understand that fully.

Glance at a couple of questions before you start reading so you know what to look for when reading. And be an active reader (underline, circle, etc.).
