Hey!
I'm a junior taking the January SAT, and I've been studying intensively by myself for most of my winter break, taking a practice test every other day, and doing one or more sets of reading and writing questions in between practice tests, and studying vocab from PR's word smart. My math score is in the high 700s/800s, but both my reading and writing tend to range from 650 to 750. I'd like to raise my reading and writing scores, since I'm aiming for a 2300 or above on my SAT. So far all my practice test results were around 2200 - 2290, around what I got on my PSAT this year.
I was wondering if anyone had any study tips for raising reading and writing scores. (My parents are very much against buying prep books, so I check out most of mine from the library. Right now I have the College Board's 2010 Study Guide, Princeton Review's 2011 Cracking the SAT, Peterson's Master the SAT, 3rd Edition, Barron's Writing Workbook, Kaplan's SAT 2010, and Princeton Review's Word Smart.) Also, are there any strategies for squeezing in time for practice tests after school starts again?
Thanks so much! :D

Barron’s is probably the best to learn the writing rules from and getting extensive practice.
There are basically only 8 major rules you need to learn
do check out sparknotes.com it really helped me

Cal Newport has a few books with really good advice on study habits

I’d need to see a sample of your writing before advising you as to how to improve it.
