<p>On the decision threads, I notice how people evaluate their own recs. How do you see your own recs? My teachers were firm about waiving the rights.</p>
<p>Some teachers hand the recs to the student to copy and mail. That’s not the traditional way to handle recs, but it does happen.</p>
<p>Most of them just “assume” whether their recs are mediocre, decent, or amazing.</p>
<p>If you know your teacher thinks you are the student who restored their faith in their profession, than you can assume it is going to be a good rec. Often they will say something to you. When my son applied a couple of years ago, his history teacher told me that he had never had a student as good as my son, and made that clear in the letter. </p>
<p>OTOH, my daughters friend got a rec from a teacher who always praised her. She did see the letter, and was disappointed how badly written and wishy washy it was. She did not end up using it.</p>
