Anyone had any experience or know people who got readmitted to any UC after having a bad academic year?
I left UC Irvine after one bad year with a GPA under 2.0. After some thinking and maturing I went back to a community college and have achieved mostly A’s even in calculus and chemistry (which I failed at Irvine). I was wondering if I should apply for readmission or if its best for me to go to a school like Cal Poly Pomona. I was an engineer major at Irvine and I’m still pursuing that.
Did you talk to the transfer advisor at your cc yet? also there is a forum for Calif colleges here, maybe UCs and there is definitely a UC transfer forum,
She seems to know the general information found on the web. And thanks I will look to post there
Congratulations on the turnaround! The UC and CSU systems want to help kids earn their degree, so a story like yours is one they are happy to hear. That said, there is a tricky set of rules to navigate depending on whether you were on probation or dismissed, etc. I suggest you meet with counselors to get it all ironed out and understand your option. For Irvine see https://www.eng.uci.edu/current/undergraduate/frequently-asked-questions For CSU I think they just look at whether you were in good standing at your last college (eg. your CC) and not all prior colleges, but you should check with a xfer counselor at your CC or admissions at CPP.
Thanks! I had not come across that link but it is very helpful with understanding what to do next
