Ready for Welcome Week? What will you attend?

I received my Welcome Week guide last week and I'm getting amped about attending a few events and meeting other freshmen/transfers.

I was just wondering if anyone on CC is going to Welcome Week and what events they are looking to attend. It seems like there is something for everyone....

there's so much..i dont even know where to begin lol

some of them are boring/silly/not worth going to...

aka the bobst library tour

also it's not a support for the rumor that "nyu students never set foot in the library" that is apparently popular among columbia students. It's just a waste of time and it's a pretty easy to navigate library, and i think they sit you down and like teach you how to use the computer and the card catalogue which is self-explanatory.

lol..what other events are boring/silly

what events did you find fun?

i think people said the reality show is a good one to go to

freshmen are required to go to the reality show with their school.
i didn't go to too many but i heard these were good
-rocky horror
-brooklyn bridge/grimaldis
-some neighborhood tours

skip all the ones in kimmel where they just sit you down and talk to you and give you tips...(unless theres free food and you like to eat)

I was actually going to check out the Bobst Library tour. I thought it may be self explanatory but I haven't been passed the entrance lobby so just to see the rest. I also thought about checking out the Brooklyn Bridge walk and the Chinatown Tour would be interesting. I also thought about the career excursions, they sound interesting. Too see behind the scences of some of those companies like NY1 news station or Google...Whats up with that 60/40 Being Male at NYU? I mean what is there really to say about the ratio? I may check out some of the ones held at Kimmel just to see what it is about. Silly ones? Yeah there are a few of those which I think I'll pass on, what is up with the Drag Queen Bingo???

I didn't know of the saying among Columbia about NYU students, so is there a saying NYU has about Columbia students? Come on there must be something....If not there should be one soon......

why would they have a seminar on the 60/40 ratio for MALES?!! Perhaps it should be the other way around.

def. go to reality show, rocky horror was fun, and i went to see both a comedian (christian finnegan) and an hypnotist (different nights) and loved both shows. i'm trying to remember one other thing I enjoyed...but can't. if i do remember, i'll let y'all know.

Probably to give a reality check to any delusional males who believe the "favorable ratio" will help them.

And I didn't attend a single welcome week event. Don't regret a thing.

firewalker..what did you do instead???

and does anyone know anything about the secret show?

usually a band, i think. can't remember who it was last year, but i didn't go.

"firewalker..what did you do instead???"

Tried to do a couple "social things" with people on my floor, looking back...was a total waste of my time. I wish I spent more time alone.

I advise neighborhood exploring, shows/attractions if you're not big on "welcome week".

last year, the mystery concert featured animal collective
i wish i knew who it was this year

exactly my thoughts.

I wanted to shoot myself during the Animal Collective show but then Ghostface Killah (see Wu-Tang Clan if you don't know who he is) came on and put on a good show.
The whole point is that the concert is a "mystery" about who's playing but the names of the bands leaks out a few days in advance. Either way, it's a free show.
Hypnotist and comedian are worth seeing. Usually one of the sketch comedy groups puts on a show. Reality show is generally really good. The tours are worthless, get a map and just wander around the city. They also have a bunch of random stuff like Yankee/Mets games, US Open (Stern) and things like that which, depending on what you like, are worth going to.

I want to go to the US Open. Damn why didn't I apply to stern.

I heard alot about the reality show. Shame I didn't attend.

But not really.

Is the Presidential welcome really mandatory?
