Real ACT to Barrons?

Hey guys, I need an opinion here. I've taken all three practice tests in "The Real ACT" by the ACT test makers themselves, and my avg. was around 24 in all (my composites fluctuated a lot), and I recently received my Barron's ACT book.

My question is: I didn't spend too much time looking at my mistakes from "The Real ACT" book (which is kinda stupid), but I'm low on time, 2 months until the June ACT test, and my goal is a 30+. Should I go straight into Barron's ACT Test book, or should I look over all my mistakes in The Real ACT Book?

I need a 2nd opinion, I really want to have enough time to finish Barron's + Look over my mistakes on there. I hear getting a 24 composite on Barron's is the equivalent of getting a 32 on the ACT?

barron’s is unrealistically tough, they say.

in my opinion, you should look over your Real test mistakes in depth and read the explanations for ones you’re confused on. then find some more old tests that ACT has released and do those. tests from other books just aren’t the same as the ones written by ACT (some say PR is close, though)

others will tell you that Barron’s is good because it prepares you for everything the ACT could possibly throw at you if you work the crap out of it. i disagree because in my experience, the more difficult questions on the ACT aren’t things you can necessarily prepare for, you just have to use your natural intelligence to figure them out. however, barron’s does work for many, so take my opinion with a grain of salt :)

I am one of those that agrees that Barron’s is excellent because it is harder than anything on the ACT. It really prepares and at the same time makes the test on test day seem like a great relief. But it is different for everyone and people say PR is another reasonable alternative that isn’t ridiculous. Well, either way, good luck. ^^

I don’t know, its honestly a tough call, I’ve had a trying week (meaning I haven’t started any ACT prep yet), over 4 Tests in AP Classes (not to mention…the week after spring break). I plan on starting this weekend, I still can’t decide, my guess is, I’ll spend about 1-2 weeks looking over my mistakes, and the rest is with Barron’s. Honestly Science/Reading is most about luck. English/Math are the only real sections for me to learn/practice.

I think you should look over the questions in the Real ACT Prep Guide book first, and then do as much Barron’s as possible between now and the June test. But yeah, Barron’s is super hard. I was scoring like 34 in the Real ACT, and like 27 on Barron’s, and I ended up getting a 35. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
