GASP! You looked around?! We must fix this. ;)

I will take care of this.

lol I think i got my fair share of yelling during Basic from gazing!
Almost every time we marched I was called out…whether I was gazing or not!

Yes, while the weather here is crazy, I love it, it adds variety to my monotonous life. I also love to be outside for sunrise and sunset, although unlike viper, I would NEVER think of gazing…

1 honor second…2 honor seconds…

Stop counting honor seconds!!! Do excuse my “toolish” squadmate… ;)

buahahaha!
a 3 deg taught me that. i didn’t come up with it on my own.

Gazing? By that do you mean looking around enjoying the beautiful scenery?

While you are supposed to be at attention.

I remember in our basic at the P a cadet pulled someone out of my squad for gazing and had him stand on the edge of the ridge that runs behind the P and “get a good look at his beautiful colorado scenery.” Backfired on him when everyone else in the squad stood shoulder to shoulder with our wingman to support him - plus we didn’t want to miss the chance to look ourselves.

Yes, “stop gazing” is probably in the top 5 most said phrases during basic, and basically, at least for my flight, if your eyes so much as wandered a tiny bit and someone saw you, they would no doubt tell you to stop gazing.

Hahahaha I love hearing people complain about the weather. From what I hear, it is JUST like here in Missoula. I’ve had track practice where we started our four hundred work out, and in less than two times around the track, the sun was gone and the snow was blinding as you run. Seriously, in places like that, if you don’t like the weather outside, wait ten minutes and it will change. As for the gazing…my spider senses are telling me that is going to be a problem on my part…hahahaha ;)

i actually had excellent bearing during basic, despite what i’m about to say

in first beast, you get marched a lot. almost every time we were out, I’d sneak a look at the mountains, and marvel at what a beautiful place this is. I still do. I’m a san diego girl, but I still think, snow and all (and I know I haven’t seen anything yet), how absolutely spectacular the mountains are.

I never got caught ;)

In fact, until about 2 weeks into the academic year, all my upperclassmen thought I was a perfect stealth cadet. mwahahaha! unfortunately for me (actually not really), they all know better now.

Yea maybe it is your awful bearing at minutes when you laugh at everything anyone says… ;)

I didnt know I called minutes so hilariously…

I’m in a 4 year college and took calc I and II. will i have to retake it?

If you score well on the math tests during BCT then you will not have to.

ah crap i’m scrwed…it’s been at least two years and i don’t remember squat because i’m a business major…

hahaha Patriot would always get on my case for gazing! if I even so much looked 1 inch lower on the person in front of me’s head, I’d get it! The only thing I liked about 2nd beast was they didn’t really yell at me for gazing. You kinda have to gaze at the ground so you don’t break your leg going to the latrine!

If you took the courses at a four-year university, you may have a shot at validating them that way. Granted, you would need your transcript, a description of the courses, etc. I’m not even sure if they will take the transfer credit, but you can try.
My bearing has gotten so much worse from Basic. I used to be able to stand at (comparatively) perfect attention for half an hour or something. Now I can’t go five minutes without squirming. I’m still a stealth cadet, though, apparently- according to our squad’s newsletter.

I have read that a cadet should always get his/her sleep no matter what. Go to sleep at taps even if you didn’t finish your hw. It’s better to pay attention in class then to lose sleep and go to class tired, not paying attention and then go back and relearn what you were suppose to learn in class on top with hw. How do cadets balance this?

We don’t! lol jk
I’m usually up to around 12. It used to be 2, but I’m getting better. You can do homework throught the whole day, and still may not be done by taps. but you still have to eat, and exercise, as well as any military training. I have always done all my homework, but I’m fine with it. I now get about 6 hrs. sleep, but can easily go off 3-4 hrs. the weekends, I’ll get about 8.
