Hopefully, the fact that you are not top 10% in class rank will be mitigated by your school's reputation. I am not sure how that is going to play out with UCB (applying OOS) - if your GC has any data of students from your school applying there that would be helpful. My guess is that you will do better at JH than Duke. Baylor and UT Austin look solid, and I think Emory will give you the nod, too.

Before you send applications, make sure that you have had the financial discussion with your folks, and whether these schools are likely to be affordable. You look like a great student, and I think you will do well come April!

I don't know much about the UC's, but Baylor seems like a good shot. I know the admission percentages are pretty high, and you're a strong candidate. Try and climb up a few spots in the rankings...if you can get to #20, then UT is an automatic safety with the 10% rule. Emory looks like a decent shot, too. You're EC's are great, as are your SAT II's. Honestly, I'm pretty positive that you'll get into most of your schools!

Rice may be familiar with your school (which is good) but if they are looking for geographical diversity - that's bad. I don't have a good sense as to how Rice operates - my son only looked at northeastern and midwestern colleges.

Wake Forest, Brandeis, and U of Rochester would all provide you with an excellent education. I think you would be a good merit candidate at Brandeis and U of R. Brandeis has a very high med school admit rate.
