The Blueprint
11, 12
Online newsmagazine founded by me and my friend. We have a lot of support from both staff and students, and hopefully will get the website up and running this summer! We're both really passionate about writing and never had time to take the journalism class (which was not highly recommended, anyways) at our school, so we just decided to start our own newsmagazine by students, for students! I'm really excited about this and hopefully everything works out!! I don't know how much time we'll both have to devote to getting everything set up due to a busy fall schedule and applications, but we're trying our best to do as much as we can in the next few weeks.

Volunteer Hours / Work / Other
I've got probably 60 or so volunteer hours outside of my clubs
Foreign language tutor / Writing tutor
Regular volunteer at the local library (shelving, helping kids etc)
Worked 35+ hours a week this summer at my local Starbucks
Did the CTD program at Northwestern for 3 weeks before my freshman year (loved it there!)

Prospective major: Biology. Not necessarily pre-med, but yeah basically I just love the subject. It makes my heart happy =] haha so nerdy, so nerdy.

You are pretty competitive.
Go for it. Write the best essays possible, sound really interested in NU, and forget about it once it's out of your control.
A lot will depend on whether the applicant pool continues to increase. It went up 18% two years ago and 19% last year, which is unheard of. That will make this a tough year to get into NU, and tougher still if those figures continue to rise.
