@Greymeer- Not sure where you are getting that there are “1200 OOS spots”, as GT doesn’t predetermine how many it will accept from in/OOS. That said, they enrolled 1422 and 1306 OOS students in the past 2 years. Guess, looking at all of your numbers, you like to be approximate- to round up/down. I prefer to be accurate.
Acceptance was ~ 22.5% overall (35,611 applied, 8037 accepted). And the in/OOS acceptance is quite different. Yield was 39%.
Some schools make you take AB Calc before BC. Otherwise, it’s odd. The fact that he likes tinkering makes me think engineering might be a better fit than CS, but I think there is lots of overlap.
Did he consider Carnegie Mellon? Probably no snow boarding. It’s in a residential section of Pittsburgh, and feels less city-like than some, but I think is really underappreciated.
