Reality of these scores?

I've gotten a lot of conflicting results about how good or not so good my GPA and SAT score combination is, and I would love it if a few people could give their opinions on the subject. Either generally, or with the "standard" of college you think they fit. My GPA (when I'll be applying next year) will be at 3.8 weighted, and my SAT score a 2300. Thank you!

Your GPA is a 3.8 W? What is it UW? And a score of 2300 is fantastic, but doesn’t really correlate with a 3.8 weighted. What state do you live in?

I’m not sure what the unweighted is (I went to look online but was unable to get into the program as teacher grades are due this week and we are locked out), but I believe it’s around a 3.5. The 3.8 is a result of some hardships which occurred for my first two and a half years of school (but have recently ended) which inhibited me from working as hard as I wish I could have. I’m hoping the SAT is looked at a bit more than GPA, and that they take the other factors into consideration when looking at GPA. Also, I’m in the state of California!

You will probably apply to the UCs because you live in California. The UCs seem to value GPA more than SAT. You may be accepted by UCSC, UCR, and UCM, but the other UCs will probably reject you. I have the same SAT score as you, but my GPA is higher (3.7 UW, 4.3 W, 4.0 UC). I was waitlisted by UCD and UCI. I was rejected by UCB, UCLA, and UCSD. I was also rejected by Cal Poly SLO.

Naviance and scatterplots seem to suggest that UCD does not even look at SAT scores.

What majors are you interested in? The major that I am interested in, computer science, is competitive, so that may have been one reason why I was rejected/waitlisted by most of the UCs.

If you are applying to UC, try the UC way for recalculating your GPA and compare your credential with their admission stat.
