Reality “reality” television

My wife and I enjoy first responder related reality television. This coming Wednesday the 7th season of Nightwatch returns at 9pm EST on A&E. We binge watched previous seasons during Covid, then stuck with it as new seasons were broadcast. It originally followed the police, fire and EMS overnight shifts in New Orleans, but now it only follows EMS. It’s an interesting show that provides a view into lives and situations most aren’t familiar with. Below is the trailer for the post-Covid return 2 years ago.

We also enjoyed the first season of LA Fire & Rescue, that just wrapped up about a month ago.

Perhaps our favorite show is On Patrol Live on the REELZ channel. It is live every Friday and Saturday night from 9pm to midnight. Most of the calls they transition to and from are happening in real time across the country(with a slight delay for privacy and sensitive content reasons).

I like medical reality shows. I got hooked on the British show “24 Hours in A&E” and watched a whole bunch of episodes on Amazon Prime. It’s pretty bloody but I think I eventually got used to it. :drop_of_blood: :hospital:.

I also went through a period of binge watching 24 hours in A & E. I love it!!

I watch formulaic reality competition shows to relax – and if they are British, so much the better!

I’ve watched “Glow Up” on Netflix, and also “Portrait Artist of the Year” on Amazon Prime, and Tubi.
